I think it wise to take them of before they get any worse.. It look so I'm,e to ight be the o ring from the canister to the damper leg to me in those pictures..
I do have a pair of cup dampers ready to go if you were over this way .. Could just do a direct swap over.. And get them sorted..

I'll message you about this now Rik

Could always get a set of cup dampers for the time being as cheaper and then speak to Rik for the rebuild when timing is better.

MOT tomorrow, looking like poss fail - the time has come, which is not great timing £ wise.

Happy to take the rebuild on to get you sorted. @Miller are you cup dampers already sold ? Perhaps he can roll on those to get him thro the MOT ?

@ Portland If the dampers are leaking it's better to sort them sooner than later as the chances of shaft wear increase greatly being driven un gassed .. Give me a PM and we can work something out...

Thanks folks, was just popping back on to see if getting a set of cup or similars on as an iterim was a possibility. Sounds like it is! Just keeping things crossed for tomorrow and see what the trauma is - rear discs and pads are very thin and will need an ABS sensor regardless, so train and tram to work for me in the foreseeable 8(

Annoying thing is that a total non fault accident repair (someone left handbrake off, rolled down hill into me) has delayed things and meant usual MOT prep was not a possibility.

Annoyingly no callback, so no idea if I've passed or failed. Upside, one of the blokes there is into his 172s and gave Rik a big thumbs up ; )

Will be on the lookout for interim cup shocks in all probability!

That's good to hear... No rush on deciding what to do... Like I said if cash it tight right now give me a DM and we can work something out .. Just don't leave them to get worse or it'll cost more in the long run ..

Yup, cup shocks being ordered today, just got to sort somewhere local to switch them out. Seem to live in a desert for Clio specialists.

It is a pretty easy job ... There is a guide on here somewhere... Or even a few owners in Yorkshire that might be able to help ??

Whereabouts in S Yorks are you? I swapped out my Sachs for cups when they were last refurbed, not too bad but glad I had an extra pair of hands to help. If you get stuck, I can recommend DDC in Doncaster as a specialist - they have been looking after my T for years and have done a brilliant job.

Cool, good to hear of someone that knows what they're about for various bits. We're Swinton way, so not a million miles by the sound of it.

Hi all, just had my Sachs refurbished and fitted by rik this morning.

the work done by rik was excellent, takes real pride in his work and helps to keep us trophy owners on the road.. also made me a cup of tea.

Thanks again rik- top bloke.

Peter, thanks for posting this, really interesting, as I am currently joining the growing queue for Mr Perry to work his magic on my dampers.

One question, I notice that the original Renault part stickers look really new, did you source replacements to put on after the dampers where refurbished by Rik?
