Are you still doing Sachs rebuilds Rik?
@Rik Perry is an extremely busy man at the moment as his day job tends to get in the way.... hahahahaha! I'm not sure whether or not he's in a position to take on extra work as a result. I can certainly vouch for the quality of his work though. Top drawer.

I’m not in any hurry as it would be for getting them refurbed for getting back on the road in the spring next year

Is it BG motorsport or nothing for rebuilds now?

Prob not but turn round time could be something that you want to take into account as the racing session has just started.

I got cup dampers with the car and would send them off now and wait until whenever as long as they are on the car for September for my European trip I'm not bothered

Will put them back on with the new springs when they are made and hopefully find a original set of rear dampers in the mean time.

If anybody can recommend a place for dampers rebuilt and repainted if possible it would be appreciated.

Three choices really...
  1. BG Motorsport
  2. Cornering Force
  3. @Rik Perry (forum member)
I would personally choose Rik but he is extremely busy now that the F1 motorsport season is in full swing, hence he might not have the time to do the work.

How much should I expect to pay for a full rebuild at BG? Mine were done by Rik by the previous owner but lasted 1,000 miles before leaking so, to be honest, want to try someone else.

My last rebuild at BG cost me just over £1100 and that was with new rods (due to scoring). Sadly they only lasted ~1400 miles before they leaked.

EDIT: I managed some 86,000 miles before they needed the first rebuild though, which I thought was pretty impressive.

This was probably asked and answered before so apologies if my question was up before.

How many times can the Sachs be refreshed/rebuilt?
Does a point come when they can no longer be used or can they be refreshed indefinitely, within reason?

unless the outer casing has been damaged - everything else is replaceable so is serviceable. depending on availability of parts etc.

I thought BG had a warranty on their services? I'd expect them to last longer than a thousand or so miles. Currently got a set in with Cornering Force, the last set I had done by BG (currently on the car and have failed in the last 300 miles) have last 9 years and around 80k ish...

Cue, any reason you went for Cornering Force rather than BG? I have a set that need sorting (again....) & cant make my mind up.

Price and location - i work 30 mins away from corning force, so was easier to drop off and discuss etc. plus saved over £300 from the BG quote and CF have retro fitted a scraper seal to the dampers - which BG refused to do.
