from what i have read, they give a nice extra bit of power with out costing the earth, can not afford cat cams ect, will talk to rstuning in leeds before i go ahead any way get some decent advice

Sorry Mike, I got that wrong. I was thinking about these cams with the RS2, but having done a little research these cams sound like a great value mod on the standard F4R - an increase in power & torque all the way through the range. The key will be getting them timed properly and mapped to take full advantage.
My recommendation would be to speak to either Mike Woodford Motorsport, Staines, or Dan Potter @ SJM, Street, Somerset. I believe Mike has done some significant R&D in getting the best out of the F4R in terms of timing, and he's a very well-respected mapper too.
Of course, Paul @ RS Tuning also has a very strong reputation indeed, I guess it depends on how far you're prepared to travel, and the feeling you get from speaking to each specialist.
Keep saving and keep up the good work with this fine example!

Thanks for that, think i might give SJM a go, they a little closer, all 3 are about 2hrs+ drive 
Believe that these are a Decent upgrade for the price of some second hand 197 Cams.
Seen them selling for as little as £150 which is much cheaper than CAT Cams or anything else at £300+

grabbed my self some new boot struts, fed up of getting hit on the head

winter tyres too, and all the salt on the roads in the winter, do not do um much good, no more than any others, but want to keep the turni mint

I just replaced my boot struts.
Hinge now creaks and and it doesn't work properly.
First bit of opening is likely to twat you in the nads and then it isn't powerful enough to push the last bit.
Thinking of sending them back. Can anyone tell me which way up they should be mounted, maybe I have it wrong. (gas cylinder top)
Can I ask where you got yours, I could only find one place online.

I bought mine from SGS.
SKU - GSC2549 listed Renault Clio Trophy Tailgate / Boot Gas Strut.
So when i open the boot, the door flies open with enough force that the hinges groan in protest, it then stops opening at about 80%.
If i push the door up the final 20% the struts do hold it up but it doesn't feel right.
Do yours work properly or is it similar to this.

not fitted mine yet, will have a go monday if the weather looks good, other people on here have bought the BMW ones and had no problems

i have fitted mine now, and are the same as yours, as in you have to give them a final lift, maybe it is how they make them? mine do not spring up as much as yours though
I have sorted the squeaky hinge with some oil.
I phoned sgs and they want me to send mine back. Unfortunately I threw away my old ones and the packaging as I fitted the new ones. So not sure if I will bother.
Annoying though as it was not that cheap to have a product that doesn't work.

Hope alls well. Need to replace my boot struts. Was quoted approx £30 each from Renault a while back. Seems like the SGS ones aren't that great and taking into account postage are only a bit cheaper. Would welcome your thoughts on which to go for.

If Renault are only quoting £30 I can guarantee they will be the wrong ones and will be too long, the genuine trophy struts cost a fortune, if they're too long you'll end up with a nasty scratch on the top of your spoiler, Renault did this to mine when in possession of the previous owner and i have since replaced, go with the SGS ones or ones from RS both do the job fine.
