Wasnt it still slower round the ring than the meg even after ford retested it a few times? #-o

So? The R26-R is a track day special, nothing more. I wouldn't want to drive one every day.

The fact (according to Autocar) that Renault couldn't sell all the R26-Rs and shipped them back to France, while they can't make the RS quick enough speaks volumes.

Interestingly a nameless Renault dealer that I was in today on business (in a large naval city on the south coast  ) had no less than three R26Rs for sale, confirming my belief that they can't sell 'em.

I wouldn't be surprised if you've been in Mark Elgars showroom. I think he works for a Renault dealer, it was in Southampton but I think he moved jobs. He tends to specialise in Renaultsports and was advertising some R26Rs on Renaultsports forum. He knows his stuff. What colours did he have in, any with titanium exhausts? Just curious.

There was a white one, a black one and one in a gloss grey which I did not like.

Couldn't tell you about the exhausts, sorry.

This naval town was somewhat to the east of So'ton...

I'd buy an R26R over a focus any day, only little thing that gets me is the lack of stereo but i'm sure something could be devised.

Likewise. I have looked at a few 2nd hand R26.Rs online and noticed that it appears to be quite common for them to be retro fitted with a stereo by the owners..

I've seen quite a number of FRS's on the road already.. I'm yet to see an R26.R, plus Essex is riddled with fast Fords. I like the value of rarity and the Meggy wins on that front.

AFAIK the wiring is all there to throw in a headunit and speakers. Less the lack of a stereo and more all the rattles and noise that the R26.R would bring as a daily driver.
While I've yet to see a Focus RS, the locals who have ordered GTR's around me seem to be finally picking them up. Seen three recently and two of them regularly.

"Sherlock Johnny" tracked it down to Street:

Salesman was very happy to show me round it once I explained I'd already ordered one. Sadly also had to trek round Clarks Village with Mrs Theboy as part of the deal....

correct... there are a few owners on meganesport who have made the upgrade to make the day-to-day commute more bareable...

did you opt for the green Jonny? nice choice... i like them and would have it over a R26-R too... blue looks the dogs knackers!!

It looks good in green, first time I've seen a picture of the colour and thought that. Whats happening with your order Johnnytheboy? When are you getting it? There's a white one living within a quarter of a mile of my house and that looks ace.

Now have one ordered - big general f** up all round - so will have to live with the Trophy for another six months or so, which shouldn't be too hard!!!

I only ever saw one or two mk1 focus RS's when they were most popular, but I've seen alot of the new RS's already.

2 of which I pass on the way to work everyday, guess Ford have marketed them well!

There is someone with a green one down the road from me. It certainly looks good in the flesh.

Saw a white one on the M6 yesterday - it looked stunning in the evening sun.

It certainly does, I went to look at one last weekend, just to satisfy myself I'd ordered the right colour. This pic doesn't do it justice, it's got a really sparkly pearlescent finish in the flesh.
