Trouble is that the RS2 has a road compound, so is not in the same league as a track tyre and yet is 1b listed by the MSA. Probably a good compromise for track days where relatively high mileages are involved.

Steve I fully understand your point entirely - the frustration is that the MSA only allow you to run it on occasions where R888s or A048 are also allowed - and then it is way off the pace. Hankook should have got it homologated as a 1A tyre (which the tread compound and depth would allow - it is rather like Yokohama have not homologated the Parada as a 1a tyre - strange to say the least) then it would be the only way to go.

ZR rated - a bit overspec'd for the car unless you plan on hitting 160+mph at any point.

Won't do any harm though and the stiffer walls will help on track, although they will be heavier than W's.

We all get use to the cars we drive and the special qualities can therefore go unnoticed sometimes.

Trophy all the way for me, I've never liked the 197. It's a different kind of car almost in comparison too.

I still love the looks of the Trophy, the compact size, driver feedback, speed and rawness.

I think the people who are looking for an upgrade may want to look at the new Focus RS as that seems set to become the new benchmark.

It;s funny you mention the looks, because so many people say it looks outdated, and i agree to an extent but only when next to say a 197 or a new CTR, but the 182 shape, even more so in Trophy guise, is a hell of a good looking HH.

I looked out of my office window earlier and it just looked superb sat amongst all the black and silver German saloon boxes...

As for driving, it still takes my breath away how fast it'll go round bends. It just shouldnt be able to but it does

I take back the Focus RS comment after seeing the Clio 200 duel

trophy would still be the better track tool compared to the 197 cup but would be intersting if the trophy is up against the new 200 cup? in this months evo mag 200 cup sounds like a good improvement over the 197 cup and 2 secs quicker round bedford. would be great to see a road test with both trophy and 200 cup on a + b roads.
