Whilst i'm aware that some of you perhaps think that the Cliosport forum is a bit 'childish', 'chavvy' or simply below you as a Trophy owner ... having read some of the threads on here since i've had mine, i have been constantly amazed by the lack of knowledge that 85% of this forums users carry.

Simple things like where do i get my cambelt done, 5 year servicing, who to go to, etc, etc, this is all really basic information, which can be found easily on Cliosport, where they also have seperate technical, or trader sections, where trusted specialists offer feedback, pricing & discounts. On both maintenance, & modification.

You'll probably all ignore this thread, but seriously, you're missing out on valuable knowledge by just hanging about in here.

i use both, i dont have any particular allegiance to one or the other. cliosport does sometimes feel a bit childish but i think thats just because there is a lot more people on cliosport so your bound to get some childish people. Think it also depends how you use a forum as to what you get out of it if you get me

LALALALA not listening (fingers in ears)

Im a memeber on cliosport and agree it has some really useful info on it. But I still believe people are doing the right thing asking for advice here as generally the advice is more helpful with less stupid comments. The guide section is very handy if you want to check how to carry out certain maintenance jobs. Like replacing discs for example and worth the membership alone.

Some of the stuff on there is pretty dumb and childish though and makes you embarrassed to own a clio. So understand why some people would rather pretend it doesn't exist .

I use both, cliosport can sometimes be full of poo and some of the replys are not worth typing!

My sisters bf has a RB 182, he's tinted the windows added 'his' own touch to it, he went to a meet and a mature Clio owner came up to him and said I really like the colour etc etc... But after that all the comments he received were "looks tacky with tints" "don't like the wheels" (even though there standard!) "exhaust sticks out too much" "needs turini's and lowered too look the part" ........

A bold assumption Sir Dave, how do you know some of us are not using other fora already and not "just hanging about in here"??

If you take your car to meets or show it then you have to accept that not everyone is gonna like your car though, your always gonna get critics

Bold yes, but i would assume that members like your yourself are a bit more clued up than others

When you buy a Trophy, i was under the impression that knowing the complexities of the cambelt, & where it should be done, were part of the process, in the same way that the dampers break, the exhaust fall off & the Recaros stop tilting.

Perhaps i'm just a bit geeky having owned 4 of the things #-o

Well i'll officially consider myself told off then! Maybe i should cancel the subscription that i also have over on Cliosport!!! And maybe my Renaulsport one too. . . .

You don't have to be Technically/Engineering minded to own and enjoy a Trophy or any other car for that matter. I think this is a great site where there are a lot of people who are willing to share their knowledge and help out fellow owners. I've owned my T since new and have never had a problem with getting it serviced, or where to get parts etc. But as we all know things can change daily and a business can disappear, in the same way one person will love a certain specialist and another will hate the very same company.

Some of the threads i start are just to keep a list of all the common questions people may ask all in one place. Make the site easier to use and more helpful (like Cliosport). Some owners will have less of a clue than even me and i admit that Engineering is not my forte, but any owner will still have the issues like the Sachs needing Refurbs, Cambelts needing to be done, who to go to for services etc.

Bu thanks for making me feel even more like an idiot.

On the contrary, if people do not browse CS, as some dont, your threads need to be stickied, not just left to disappear off the page, so that they can be kept up to date, with the corrrect information :D

I know a lot of people don't do it, but once pointed in the right direction then it should definitely help when using the 'Search' function!

And i think on my Cambelt Dealer list thread i asked in the top post for it to be 'Stickied'. Not my fault if it doesn't get done.

The RenaultSport forum seems good.

Only if you like your nose firmly planted up someone elses arse, they do seem to like it a lot.

Ha, I seem to have found the one swear word not recognised by the site :)

As always. Don't be so serious, just trying to lighten the mood a little.

Anyway I have always said that CS is a great source of valuable information partly because they have a massive base in terms of members and they have been going for a lot longer than here so the depth of data will be greater. However I also think that it's a little unfair to criticise people for not knowing some of the simple stuff, we all start somewhere and if you don't ask the question, some will not know even where to even start looking, they will remain in the dark rather than start learning.

As hoolio says; we all have to start somewhere.

Someone buying a Trophy or any 182 for that matter will not necessarily be aware of the things we know today due to the fact we've owned the cars for a while and have browsed forums and learnt new things. All forums I feel are a good source of information. If I was to buy a new car, yes someone the things I've learnt from the T and previous CS I've owned could be used for my new car but there will be lots of things I will still be looking for answers too. In this situation I would turn to a forum to do a search and ask some questions.

It’s like anything, if you're not sure about something then ask. People shouldn't be worried about asking questions.

With the exception of the original post, this is a "weird" thread.

I'm on both forums! It's up to the individual what they want to post up in the forum whether it's a question or an answer! Regardless of if the info is already here or not who's to say that you shouldn't be allowed to repeat the question! We've all been new to forums! Pointless thread!
