Every Trophy Owner should put theres up for sale at £6K+ and see how the market goes but if you do get a phone call just say its sold LOL
I like that idea

Just been reading this with some interest as mine has been declared a write-off today due to a repair bill of £ 3,500 (parts £ 1,700, paint £ 500, labour £ 720 + VAT £ 580). The insurance obviously considers she's not worth that... I totally disagree!
I am waiting to hear what they come up with as settlement figure. However, I want to buy her back and get her repaired as it's mostly cosmetics except for the alternator.
She has 118k but was fully serviced and running perfectly well, never showing her age.
As you all seem to be watching prices, what would you suggest she's worth? I'd be interested to know how much the 140k went for and any other high mileage ones so I can argue with the insurance.
Many thanks, Audrey
Thanks for that. I found 2 examples a 103k sold £ 3,750 & a 89k for £ 4,250. Wrote an email, saying estimated value on insurance policy was 4k. Listing MOT till Nov 14 & tax till Sept 14. Between May 13 & Nov 13 services, all 4 pads/discs, wheel bearings, shock absorbers, brake cable, cambelt, front tyres had been replaced. Back had plenty of thread left. Basically the car was mechanically more than sound.
I had the car from brand new, looked after her. It's a collector's car, only 500 made, not the normal 182.
Offer of £ 2,550 is a joke & I would never get a remplacement at that price.
I asked them to reconsider tha Cat C & repair her. If they still think it's a Cat C, I want her back (scrap price £ 510, 20% market value) & I'll do the repairs. The insurers' garage, like in your case, is seeing £££s to be made! The assessor has only seen pics.
She was scratched on the passenger side but that could have been fixed for £ 800.
I am disputing it obviously!
After all this, I am losing 8 of my 10 yrs NCB on the T, next yr insurance will be expensive (dreading it!). I got a quote for a potential 2nd car bought for £2,00, 2004 RS 172 0 yrs NCB £ 1,000!! I think my 2nd run around car will be a Nissan micra at this rate. Until you have an accident, you don't realise the ins n outs of insurance policies...
