Afternoon all.... Newbie here!!

Currently got a FF182, but now the Trophy seems to be luring me in...

I was hoping you could help me out with a few things..

1 - The warranty - I've heard that you can extend it with Renault, is this true, is it worth it?

2 - I've yet to get a test drive in one, is the difference v FF182 marked? I already love the way mine handles, so anything on top of this is going to make me a bit giggly inside

3 - What are the most common faults/issues to look for when I go buying? I know the answers will lie within your forum somewhere - but a quick summary could save me a few hours!

4 - Are there any reccomended garages for Renault Sports in the NW... obviously I'll be taking it to Renault to get the service stamp, but I aint paying their prices for any other work.

5 - The Colour!, do you get used to it?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

On Another note, I've just got back from viewing #81, unfortunately, it seems to have gotten in with the wrong crowd. Its on a very dodgy forecourt in Warrington (the type that dont do test drives), its got budget tyres on, its got an exceptionally stiff clutch, and the salesman informed me that the previous owner had traded up for the '172'.

Dont worry, I soon educated the guy on the RS sport range, before leaving hastily after he offered 5k for mine!!!

Cheers guys.

Coming from a 172 Cup i love the Trophy. I've driven a few 182's and the Trophy does handle better then 182. Drive one and you'll want one!

Colour is great! Love it to bits!

Why the need to go to dealer from them to steal your wallet and trousers!? Go to an specialist such as RenTech etc.
In the 3 years I've owned RS Clios neither of them have ever seen the inside of a Renault workshop for servicing.

Trophy 81/500 sounds iffy

Hiya newbie :)

If you've been looking around the forum at all you'll know that we all love our little cars so i'll just answer your questions

1/ Yes you can extend the warranty but as all trophys are still under warranty not sure if it is worth it. (as in i have no experience of it)
2/ yes it is quite marked, quite a lot harder ride but steering is much more direct. Remember you will lose a few of the comforts of your FF
3/ Check the same things as any car, the only issue really have been on some the rear dampers have rubbed on the outer sleeve and rusted and some of the rear dampers have leaked. Also you've got the register on here so you can check the ones listed here.
4/ Being a southern softy, not sure
5/ Being a Chelsea fan (ok keep it down) should hate the colour but they look great in the sun.

And yes 81 sounds like a pile of...............

Hi! XYW. I sold my 182 Cup last Tuesday. Broke my heart to see her go. It was an economic decision made because I NEED A BODIED CLIO. lol. Could'nt afford to convert the Cup, but with my hipper stuffed with 7.5k can now buy someone's who's done all the hard work, borne the high price ect.

Now here is where I get controversial. Don't want to offend anyone on here as they are a nice polite set of guys[ unlike CS] I could never get used to the colour and the difference in handling between Trophy and Cup you could'nt slide a fag paper between. Also the Trophy seems to command [or folks on here want it to] an inordinate price prenium second hand. All in my opinion of course. lol

Loughborough but mainly on trackdays!
The difference as you call it, is very noticable.
Not on a quick test drive but day to day on 'b' roads.
I had 172 & mates had 182's & they all agree the tomato is the best for our roads by far.
In the dry a 172 cup is as good if not better if you compare prices & what you actually get, but mix in damp conditions & the cup will be in the nearest ditch.
Insurance quotes back this up as winter is known as cup killing season!

Supply & demand keeps prices high, only 500 made. The little cars 'reputation' also helps (trophysmall) (tupw)

The red with dark wheels also gets it noticed

If you were not 'curious' you wouldn't be on this site looking:lol:
