I got hold of a trophy at a reasonable price. I knew it needed work. One of the things it came to my attention is the sound the engine is making. Here is a quick video. 182 trophy engine grind: http://youtu.be/Sh0a8OIifEI

I got a receipt for the dephaser and Pully. If the engines gubbed I have someone on standby to put in a new engine cheap so won't be an issue. What's your thoughts

I am 99.5% sure thats a dephaser noise.

If i was you no matter what invoices you have i would be getting a full Aux belt kit, Cam belt kit & Dephaser done with decent oil and a good service.

I have read somewhere (might be a myth) that using rubbish oil is not good for the dephaser.

Here is mine before i got it done.

Good quality oil and regular changes are a must for a long lived dephaser, mine has covered 97K and had quality oil and genuine filter every 6K with no issues.

Its preventative maintenance .

Unless it has done mega mileage in that time, i find it hard to believe the depasher would sound like that after just one year...!

So the car is in the garage just now. From speaking to him it looks like a cunt of a job. He told me he had to drop the sub frame and lower engine to get to. Do the water pump and belt. I think turbo done the belt but he gave me a spare belt so it's going on. I told him he can do it with the bumper off and the headlight out. Thank god its getting done cheap. Al keep yous upto date

He had to drop the subframe ??

Danny i strongly suggest you contact these people

http://www.swrautos.co.uk/sport.html

They work on some very powerful cars and are all renault trained at around £55 per hour with a renault clip and diagnostic equipment and renault special tools

They do all my work and a pile load of scottish renault sport owners use them.

SWR are 2 mins off the M9 in stirling and only scottish renault specialist i will let look at my car.
If you are getting your joe blogg back street garage to do work on the Trophy i fear this will end badly.

I got the work done and got the Aux belt done with Pullys water pump oil filter and oil change all for 110. Had a Aux belt kit in my car and got my own waterpump Runs great aswell. After reading loads on clio sport forum I was worried it would of cost too much but worked out pretty well

I changed my water pump and aux belt kit myself on my drive due to it being noisy and i can tell you its very tight to get out but at no point did i drop the subframe this will not help.

Seems a fair price you payed considering how many hours it takes glad you now have a fully functioning car again.
