I have owned a few clio's in the past and have always taken it to the same Renault Specialist near where I live. He has been a Renault specialist for nearly 15 years and he is very clued up on anything French to be honest.

Anyway, I've had an oil change from him on the Trophy a few thousand miles back, but for an "official" service @ 20,000 miles, should I take it to a dealer or back to my trusted specialist? I'm not too bothered about the price (albeit probably a large difference). The specialist is Renault Approved and he can stamp the book because he uses all OEM components so that doesn't void warranty either.

So which one do you think I should opt for?

I used Mike & Dave @ Ren-Tech for my last service & spring fitting back in Sept.
(Albeit a 182 & not Trophy) They were alot more friendly, clued up & cheaper than I dream Renault can be.

My car will be serviced & worked on them for the period of my ownership tbh.

Yep will be traveling down to RenTec from Oxon for 307's yearly checkup in the summer, if you've been using a local reno specialist and are happy stick with him, they're like goldust and to be honest all the warranties are coming to an end now and that was the only reason to be seeing a Renault dealer.

I wouldnt take my car to anyone but Rentech, unless it was a warranty issue, and the only one of those i had, renault were crap and Mike and Dave saved the day.

:?: So if i took my car to ren-tech and had a service done, aslong as they use renault parts it won't void the remaining warranty?

cheers

any garage... not just ren-tech. It's a common lie by steelers that you must have your car serviced by them to maintain your warranty, yes OEM parts should be fitted but you can often argue the case around this.

It's illegal for them to scrap your warranty as you didn't have the car serviced a main dealer - it's against the common market legislation.

Ren-Tech.

They're the best. And also happen to be cheaper than Renault. If I was buying another Trophy, I would look for a full, Ren-Tech service history!

What's Mark Fish like for servicing? They're based in Harlow, which would be closer for us Essex/E London lads (not sure what Dartford falls into?! - Kent?!)

But then again, we all know what renault are like at shirking out of warranty work, and it was due to an OEM part failing that my car had its problem. If it wasnt for Mike and Dave i would probably still be argueing with Renault or be £6k out of pocket. Rentech get the vote from me every time

Rentech

My Trophy has never been near a stealer since I bough it.

Rentech work on both the Trophy and my 172.

There top blokes and I wouldn't trust my cars with anyone else.

I got a quote from him when i got the car serviced in december, tbh he was the same price for a service as the main dealer, probably wouldnt have done the full valet my car got (foc) before collection and wouldnt have been able to sort the warranty work the car needed either. Therefore no point and I went to Darlingtons in Harlow - excellent service and a job well done, ill be back there again.

Hmmm interesting, I shall possibly pay a visit to some friends in Southampton and take my tomato to Mike then. :D

Oh and you trust a stealer to clean your car - I wouldn't allow anyone, bar a professional detailer, to clean mine, eekk!! :?

...its a tool 8) - not a jewel

So if someone wants to give it a good clean, inside and out, with no expense to myself - well then go for it

Note to self : need to book another service, car needs wash
