^^ its covered but this is common.
They all leak round the bolts etc.
If they are doing it, you must have a new cambelt & accessory belt done at same time!
If it's not bad i would live with it.
Anyone thought about extending the warranty with Renault? Platinum level. Or will a third party provider like the offering via AllVehicles be as good cover and be cheaper?
Wouldn't a non Renault warranty offering mean you have to take the T to the garage stipluated by the policy. Or would they pay RenTech or someone nice like them to do the work at your request? I doubt it...
If a non Renault third party warranty provides a list of garages you must use, you might end up being better off if you asked to take it to a main dealer for the work to be done...
Really? It seems to cover all the parts the full three year at purchase would.
Surely if you break a shaft or a head gasket goes the Renault warranty covers it, therefore not that worthless. Niggling electrical faults that suck hours of diagnostic time should also be covered.
The Peugeot one I took out on the S1 Rallye when it's one expired saved me a fortune. Head gasket, resealed the gearbox, two lower arms where the rubber bushes seperated and more. When they did the head I also got cambelt done for the £10 cost of the belt etc. Well handy.
So if the Renault one is pap what's the alternative. Are they worth anything?
Still got till October to think about this but it's something i'll be looking into. I assume the Reno one won't cover you if you've taken it elsewhere to be serviced and continue to do so?
Hoolio, it doesn't matter where you service the T. You are now allowed to take cars to any garage for servicing. You are not tied to main dealers any longer. As long as you have kept to the service schedule is the improtant thing.
All warranty work must be done at Renault though. I also presume that if it's been modified in anyway they aren't too happy either. Depends on what fails and whether the part that has been modified has caused (or could have caused) the other failure.
I think there was a discussion string on the topic of servicing elsewhere not voiding the warranty. Best to check the T&C's but they may have been written before the law was changed. EU ruling meant the monoploy for main dealers was stopped.
Interesting to see what people say.
Olliev8, dampers are not ususally covered by any warranty as they are a wear and tear part, like brake discs and friction materials. I would expect they will cover them in the first three years factory warranty as dampers shouldn't go that quickly, but once out of the three years they are probably classified as a wear part.
Bummer, as these dampers aren't cheap. Thing to do would be to have them rebuild by a Sachs professional I'd think.
