Rex who is that fella on your facebook who is claiming the sachs dampers are crap?

Has he got a saxo running konis??

That's James Loose (aka InvaderZim) from the RS forum. The Sachs are not crap, but they are not the best you can possibly buy.

I guessed it may be him.

He was never pro trophy!

Yeah I know the sachs arnt the best but the last owner had some konis at the back and some mark fish springs all round. He said it made it twitchy although it was faster.

The trophy has always been about the perfect compramise and not out and out pace!

Also have you noticed that most negative comments re trophies come from people with modded 182s. There is some envy there I'm sure not cos of not being able to own one but for having spent loads on their cars for similar results.

Trophy No.

f1 spec dampers are better than BTTC ones, although that's all circumspec as it's dependant on what job they're asked to do.. the sachs on the front are the same as what Seat used last year on there BTTC cars... so they're not exactly crap

One of the most interesting thing about yesterday's meet was talking to more than one owner who had previously had a 'lesser' 172/182 and said the Trophy was in a completely different league, ride-wise.

I've only ever driven the T, so wondered if a relative philistine like me would actually benefit from the extra finesse of the suspension I had acquired.

I have owned a cupped 182, a standard 197 and a Trophy. The Trophy is by far the best handling, the stiffest and most fun to drive.

Anyway...

The Trophy is feeling fit as fu*k now the dampers have been refurbed. It feels brilliant. I have been testing its limits on empty roundabouts and I simply cannot make it underdsteer.

That's a point. I have made mine oversteer a bit (before the TC envelops me like a cuddly blanket), but I don't think I've ever experienced understeer. Which is nice.

I had a 172 Cup modded to 189bhp with some other tweaks too.

Complete waste of money and should have got a trophy instead of modding.

The evidence keeps pouring in...

Has to be said, my personal take on much modding is "put the money you would've spent modding towards a better car instead".
