Hello,

As Cambelts are the new 'Hot Topic' for Trophy's at the Moment can we maybe Sticky this topic so it's easy to see.

Can we start a list below of dealers that people have used and been happy with for getting the work done.

Just need dealer name, if the service was good or not, price quoted/paid, and if they were Renault original parts etc.

Just keep the thread factual and keep the chat to the other Cambelt threads so people can find the info quickly.

This is all on Cliosport & i cant be bothered to copy & paste the entire dealer section ...

For starters, i wouldnt let NW Performance clean my toilet, let alone trust them to time a cambelt:

Reputable Specialists are:

Rentech (Portsmouth)
JMS Tuning (Uxbridge)
Birchdown (Northwest somewhere)
BTM Performance (Birmingham)
419 Automotive (Bedfordshire)
Ktec (Dorset somewhere)

Well thank god i left the bog at home then. I wasn't the only Trophy there that day and I haven't had a problem with mine.

You might want to get your timing checked then.

I've just had the full 5 year service for mine done at Birchdown just outside Malpas. £630 for the service including fitting brake discs supplied by me and Renault pads supplied by them, and resealing the exhaust the cat to centre pipe join an my exhaust to get it through the lambda test on the MOT. I had their courtesy van for the day with no charge, and for the size of the service they were reasonably quick but not so much so I thought they were rushing. Both blokes are very friendly and the car is running very nicely following the service. They used Gates for the Cambelt and Renault for the other parts, Elf 5w40 oil.

307 is now booked in for the whole shebang a week on monday at JMS, getting all the usual 5 year/Cambelt service bits plus a couple of other niggly things that have made driving it not a fun as usual so I'm looking forward to getting it sorted.
I suspect that most will have had this service done by now but i'll report as soon as it' done.

So you think it was a shoddy service that caused your problems? It was odd that just cleaning the t/b would kill your car.

For the Welsh lot, I just had Cam Belt /Aux Belt / 5 Year service done at AP Developments, a Renault specialist in Ystradgynlais near Swansea.

Paid £650 plus an extra £45 on top to fit brake pads I supplied. Craig did a top job and the T is now running sweet as a nut.

Mat.

Strange name?

What's the history of this new company? Do they know there stuff?

Hello, That would be me :) I dont want to blow my own trumpet too much so I'd suggest a look at CS or some other clio forums for feedback on my work. I've worked on a lot of clios though. I'd estimate around 200 172/182 cambelts, and a fair number of Trophys included in that. I've also rectified a large number of badly timed engines. My operation is new, but I've been in the industry, and the french car scene for many years :)

Had the belts done on 415, and a service (now showing 29,000 on the clock), at Ren7oaks a week or so ago. Total cost was £800 for the lot. Service showed up a fauly oxygen sensor too, having had the same fault on my Subaru a month earlier – garage reckons bad fuel was to blame. £130 to replace the sensor in the Clio. Have now sold the Subaru after almost seven years of ownership and bought a 2005 Audi S4 Avant instead. Can't beat the throaty whine of a 4.2-litre V8!
