I recently read a promotion article for the new Clio 200 Turbo and was fairly disappointed tbh.
The new car will apparently only have a paddle shifting gearbox and not a manual gearbox. For this very reason I am put off and my interest with staying with the clio evolution of models is somewhat...
Hello all! After a flirtation with a 182 some time ago I have decided it is time to investigate the best of the breed and have just become the new owner of Trophy #051.
Seemingly the first item I will need to attend to is a refurb of the distinctly tired Sachs dampers and have already spoken...
Hi guys.
im thinking off the idea of getting front and rear strut braces for the trophy.
but do they actually need them.
does anybody think they improve the handling??
I'd like some input from people who have fitted them.
thanks for looking
Hi all,
Took my car for a power run today to see where the clio was at. I know you need to take the results with a pinch of salt but would appreciate anybodys view on whether or not the car is there or there abouts where it should be given its age and milage.
Right the car has done 81000...
Hi guys,
Picking up #355 next week and will be my second trophy.
It will be a second car for me so not a daily.
I want it to be setup the best way possible.
Shall I keep it standard in terms of springs etc?
I've heard good things in terms of Mark fish, Cooksport, whiteline arb.
Are these...
Hi guys.
I'm contemplating some decent coilovers for my RS Twingo but have a question or two...
The Twingo is based on the Mk2 Clio platform, with the rear beam axle having the usual clio style seperate springs and dampers. Front suspension is set to similar angles as the Trophy and shares...
Hi guys,I know you guys will be biased but why should I pay the extra for a Trophy over a 182FF?I know it's got the sachs but is the cornering ability that much better?Let me know your thoughts and why you went for a Trophy.Cheers.
Hi.
I have been having a few problems while driving like country type of
Roads not been impressed by the handling of my car :-(
I began to realise something ain't right coz ma old 182 handled better than this. Which isn't right.
Anyway cut a long story short.
I pushed down on the front...
I am in need of 4 new tyres and looking at prices for premium brand 205/45/16 tyres are £100+ each including P&P/fitting. I used to run a ph2 172 and they ran on 195/45/16. I remember with Conti Sport on the 172 the handling was more playful than the Trophy. Has anyone considered or are...
Clio Trophy, No 321
Time has come to sell my Trophy which I only bought 3 months ago but we are now expecting our second child in February so looking for something a little bigger!

29,852 - 25/6/07

Well last week was the dreaded mot date. I refitted the cat and new lambda sensor ready for the emissions test, and threw the good o/s/f damper in the boot so my mate could fit it before the mot. The damper that was on was soft and made a horrible knocking nois over any bumps it was ridden...

Can somebody please report back on the following:
Driving straight ahead at 60+ MPH using small movements of the wheel around the centre is there much "feel/feedback"? I have had lots of work done on curing a wandering/tramlining problem which is now sorted and the handling/steering feel is now...
Following on from some other topics and comments regarding Sachs and rebuilds, has anyone changed the Sachs for something else, if so what are the options?
I know the Sachs are the selling point of the Trophy, but as there is a lack of new stock and the refurbs do not seem to last I am...
Hi Everyone,
Im currently looking to buy a trophy and over the past few weeks I've noticed more and more coming up for sale but rarely selling. Then last night 3 came up for sale within the space of 2 hours on Pistonheads. Is this a coincidence or am I missing something here? Is there an...
Hello everyone. It's been a while but this still is the best car enthusiast forum IMO. Good to be on here again and may well be back in a Clio subject to job situation. I'll be selling my 5.5 AMG merc as it's not very economical as you can imagine. So, my question is, in a nut shell, what are...

just dug out a couple of the old williams es wheels/tyres. tyres are pe2s, and shot tbh. but the ride is sooo much nicer over the bumpy b roads round here.
only put the fronts on at the mo just for a trial run. but i think rather than getting new tyres for the original rims, il be getting...
Or perhaps not.
This is a Trophy afterall ... Handling > Lowz:up:
On Sachs / Sportlines
On H&R's
Very pleased so far, ride is lovely, far better than the Sachs in fact, which would imply that they are probably a little softer. Havent really pushed it particularly hard as the camber/toe...
Guys,
General thoughts on tyres.
I noticed the other day my rear tyres are seriously cracked, I think they look like the orginal PE2.
They still have plenty of tread on them, but doubt very much they will pass the MOT in June ?
I know there is a sticky on tyre choice on here.
Getting hold of...

how much difference to the handling does dropping down to say....15 inch williams rims on 19/50/15s on do???
they are pretty much the same rolling radius just a little less width.
i know quite a few people drop down a size in trackday wheel/tyre for cost reasons...but how much diff would they...

Hi guys,
I was wondering how many of you would recommend Sportlines over the stock trophy Eibach springs.
I' d love to get some low but I'd never compromise handling for look.
cheers

Page 132 bottom of 2nd column. Suggests Mini's engineers should have driven a Clio Trophy and fitted Sach dampers if they were serious about the Coupe's sporting credentials...
Evening everyone.
I've been umming and ahhing about selling the Clio for a while now, it's costing a fair bit to run which isn't great when I have another expensive hobby.
So i've decided I should probably try to get a cheaper car that's as fun and although i've looked at MX-5s and the like...
I met Harry Metcalf at an evo track evening last year and he asked me why I had not thought about a newer car, implying that the new models are better.
Any way with this thought in mind I went and test drove a Clio 200 on a cup chassis the other day.
My thoughts, new car is bigger, much more...
Just thought I would do an update from a myself, a new owner member of a trophy re 131. Picked T up from Wales last Wednesday , first to see did buy! Great price but as always there is a snag, not deliberate by the seller more like the things to do when you get a second hand performance car! On...
