Hi

Im looking to buy a Trophy and as well as looking at some great ones listed here, there seems to be lots on ebay as well as other sites such as Gumtree..

At the moment there is 9 available on ebay which is making it difficult for me to make a decision..

As you guys are experts in all that is Trophy, I was hoping to get some advice..

Which would you pick and why http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Cars-/9801/i.html?_sop=16&_from=R40&_nkw=clio+trophy

Thanks in Advance

i would buy Marls :p job done

Is that on ebay? Ill explain my thinking.. Under my ownership it will be valeted regularly and serviced by our mechanic who just happens to be an ex Renault man but works on all our vehicles.
I don't really want to pay top whack when I can save a couple of grand and get a well cared for one, obviously not mint which I can use without too much worry.. Also might try it out on the track just out of curiosity, another reason to not get a minter..

I am even tempted by the really high mileage one with 138k, also like the one with RS2 but Id prefer it if it was closer to 4k lol..

He left before Trophys came out lol....
As for knowing what I want, I really don't.. There is 9 on ebay and I was asking which one people would go for if any.. I thought as this is a Trophy Forum this would be the best place to seek advice... If you can't be bothered to help simply don't reply. Simples

I would buy one from an active member on here, rather than eBay. That's what I did and got an honest well described car. It was 250 miles away so you need to be prepared to travel.

How about you put up 1 or 2 that look good and then we can pick the ads apart and give you better advice.

Otherwise buy one off here that has a documented history. I use my ownership thread like a maintenance record anyway!

Most of the advice from members will be as follows:

1. Sachs Refurb?
2. Belts? (Aux/Cam?)
3. Other Service Items (Dephaser/Water Pump/Carbon Canister maybe)
4. Service History (Renault/Specialist/Random Garage)
5. Mods.
6. Problems (Melted Steering wheel, Recaro tilt slide mech working, Paint damage etc)

After all of these you can then make up your mind as to what you want.

I don't think its the fact that people can't be bothered but why should they do all the work for you? As Dave has said you do some research and then perhaps some members might give you some help............

Id buy the cheapest one. Or the one with the RS2.

But i buy on mechanical condition & ability to take abuse on track, not whether i can make it look pretty with 15 layers of polish.

I agree sir Dave, they look real nice after the polish But driven like they are designed to do is the best bit about Trophy ownership.
They handle so well people don't understand till they drive one, flat , progressive and awesome grip.

Cheers mate, I think Id like to track it as Ive never done it before and it seems an ideal car to start with.... As opposed to buying a mint one and abusing it..

I'd second this... I bought mine 3 weeks ago with 99k on the clock, but it is a one owner with a huge folder of documented history and it in great shape for a car with 100k on the clock. It depends what you want the car for as to what you buy.. Do you want a show car to cherish or a track toy that you're not too bothered about getting a few stone chips on hammering around a track.

Cheers mate Id have to go with the second choice I think... Not that I won't look after it but Im not one to be polishing and worrying about every little thing...
