A few problems with my Trophy, picked up from the dealer last Saturday:

1. Alarm is oversensitive and almost always goes off 30 seconds or so after setting with one press of the key.
In the manual I've discovered that if you turn on the ignition and turn it off again immediately, this deactivates the interior movement sensors. If I do this I get the 3 beeps when I lock the car, but best of all I don't get an alarm sounding for no reason 30 seconds later. This is a far from ideal solution, and as I spend most of the time 400 miles from my dealer, would be grateful for any advice on how to "fix" the alarm !!!

2. When backing off at about 4,300 rpm, there is a high-pitched tinny rattling sound from under the passenger footwell. Does this sound normal ?

3. The steering wheel is not straight when I'm driving straight ahead - in other words if I hold the wheel dead straight the car turns slightly to the right. If I am driving in a straight line and let go of the wheel, it gently drifts the car towards the right. Are they all like this, or have I got a problem ?

Any help very gratefully received !!!
Cheers
Chris

I think the noise problem may be the same one Mattthecat reported in his Noise Problem post....

the noise i had is a rustly sound from the exhaust - suppose it may be the same. i think its just the exhaust and as the carbon builds up a bit inside the exhaust over time it will go away - dosent really bother me tbh - just ignore it.

if you are driving straight and you let go of the wheel and it pulls; especially to the right then the tracking needs adjustment, you could forgive a gentle wander to the left due to camber of the road, but sounds like yours aint set right. I can let go and go straight forever. i'd take it to a specialist rather than renault - may cost you a ten spot but it will be right. Otherwise wanky renault will let some 'technician' rag it roud to the garage and get it done. then rag it back!!

Hope this helps mate.

Thanks for the tip, Matt, I've got a 800-900 mile round trip this weekend, so I'll know for sure if it's something to worry about after that.
It will be good to get the alignment checked for starters...

id get the alinment done before that 800-900 mile trip , wont be doing ur tyres any good if the tracking is out  just drive in to a decent tyre garge sumwhere and they will do it ten mins for very little doh ,nut i recon a phone call to customer services is still required just to let them no of ur concerns .....

this is 1 thing im not looking forward to when i get my trophy ,i know what it was like with the cup when i got that , it was defo a mon morning or friday afternoon built fucker :(

The alarm issue sounds like something that it needs to go to a dealership for to decrease the alarm sensitivity.
The tracking should be able to be sorted out by a decent tyre supplier, I only use laser alignment as it is supposed to be much more accurate than the old mirror alignment.
My exhaust is making rattling noises as well, like Matt I am just assuming the noises will go away over time, done 800 miles and they are still there here, but they are not really bothering me. If they have not gone away by 2,000 miles I will pay Renault a visit...

Thanks a lot for the tips and reassurance!
I'll be checking the alignment this week and getting the alarm sorted in a few weeks when I'm next near the dealer...

LOL, if the car pulls either way, TAKE IT BACK AND DEMAND A FULL WHEEL LASER ALIGNMENT.

For fucks sake its a new car, it should be right when you buy it. Dont take no for an answer. Tell them you have trading standards phone number. Get them to sort it.

Jeesus i just wish people knew who to complain properly in this country. Renault do things like this because ppl let them get away with it.

Oh and before you take it back check your tyre pressures, as youll look stupid if its pulling becuase one tyre is down. If its pulling left then rear left wheel might have low pressure.

I wouldnt even have accepted the car with a non centered steering wheel. I beleive its meant to be centered so Renault should make sure it is.

seems like a few of us are having the alarm problem , when i phone today i was told they were really busy and it was 1 1/2 hour job to fix and they couldnt see it untill the end of next week  asked to speak with the manager and its now being sorted tommorrow afternoon while i wait :|

i was told by 1 of the guys in the garage that they swap the wires around from the inside sensors which reduces the polarity , sounds to me as if alot of the trophys alarms have been wired up incorrect ....... ???

My alarm only flashes twice when I set it, i'm sure the dealer said it should flash 3 times

All sorted now I think - at 130 mph the car feels very stable, doesn't wander and wheel is straight. Definitely helped that trye pressures are now even  - tyre pressures were 5 psi different between left and right rear when I checked after starting this thread!!

At least now with a checklist in mind I know how thorough to be next time - in the past with local dealers it has never been a problem getting it sorted fast, but being so far away hasn't helped.

Still, dealer became suddenly helpful when he realised i was withholding final payment until I got the result I wanted....

Regarding flashes, the lights should flash twice when alarm is set, but the interior red light flashes three times if the alarm has gone off because of the interior sensors. When these are de-activated, there should be three loud beeps when you lock the car.
