Taking my Trophy virginity.

Hi

Im new to the forum and have joined to gain a little knowledge from trophy owners about the car. Hope to be purchasing a Trophy at the weekend which seems like a good one but I have a few questions. How often should the dampers be refurbed? I hear £400 is the going rate? The ones done on the car im after were refurbed by BG motorsport in july 2010. the belts were changed around the same time about 15k ago. Im not sure where that was done. Also the car is on eibach springs at the mo, good or bad? Anything else I should look for? What about brakes? General lifespan? Last thing, what are the best tyres? It has Goodyear Eagle F1's on the front and some nexon things on the back. Ive had eagle F1's on scoobies ice had and they were craking.

Hi Will, wlecome to the board. Dampers are a curious one, some see it as good practise to have them done ~ 50k / 4 yrs which seems reasonable as are a major point of the car. Id doubt they would need doing for some time if done in 2010. Belts are done in stages. Aux is 24k, aux + timing @ 48k or 5 yr which is why all should now be done as they are all 5 yrs old. RE brakes depends how you drive. rears can last ~ 80-90k fronts 20k. Most change the front discs to brembos as they offer mch better value Vs Renault.
Originally the 182 were supplied with Michelin PE2 which were designed for the car and had very stong sidewalls which suited the car. This are now discontinued and replaced with PS3 which some feel are a touch softer. Plenty of choice which suit differnt styles and pockets. I have just fitted a full set of Hankook V12 which I feel are particulerly good !

Cracking, just the response I was after, cheers Rob. I live in Northumberland which is roughly 10 miles north of Newcastle. Does anyone know of any specialists near me? Dont really want to rely on a stealer for anything.

I though aux was every 36k and cambelt was every 72k, at least it is for every other 172 and 182 out there

Yep 36 and 72 (if you dare leave it that long).

Aux belt is 36k or 3 years and cam belt is 72k or 5 years, whichever comes first.

Would always recommend full kits for both, had mine done last year and hopefully will last.
