Well, it hasn't been long in my hands and already I've decided that it's time to be a bit braver! I got married a couple a months ago as many of you know, and bought the R26 to replace my beloved Trophy #185. Having realised that I've probably only got a couple of years left to be utterly irresponsible before my wife wants kids, I've decided that . . . . . . .

It's TVR time.

Have been doing a great deal of research and have finally decided on what to go for. Might not be the quickest TVR, but they do work (nearly) most of the time! I've now test driven about 10 4.0ltr's ranging from £11k to £16k, This one was the cleanest I have seen within budget and in the right colour scheme. It feels tight as a tight thing and makes, as you would expect, an fantastic racket!

Oh, and if anyone wants an R26 with less than 3000 miles on the clock reg June 07 then let me know! It's only going to the garage otherwise, so make me an offer over £15k if you want it!

Great cars - when they are running!

Had one for almost three years from new, was off the road more than on during the first year. Even got sent back to the factory twice. Two rads, a gearbox, two diffs and two engine rebuilds in the first year!

Started life as a 4.0HC (high lift cams), but for some reason was seriously under powered, the factory agreed and built me a one off 4.3HC Big Valve. Had the cats removed and re-mapped and it was amazing. Shortly after TVR dropped the 4.0HC from the model line-up.

Although any well loved and cared for Chimaera should now be fully sorted and there are some excellent specialist dealers around. They sound amazing, especially in tunnels!

Don't expect too much from the handling unless its got the optional sports pack.

I owned mine just before marriage and kids also.

Here are some pics - I was a lot younger looking then. LOL

Thought I could rely on you to have had one at some stage Mat!

I've got a 98' model, so no cooling problems and i've bought it from Fernhurst TVR in Surrey. They seem to have a very good rep and were very useful with advice. It's been pampered and immaculately maintained by the previous (1) owner and always been garaged etc. I really wanted a 500 Chim, but was told that they really don't like sitting in traffic etc and tend to be more trouble than they're worth unless you've got bottomless pockets.

Also got a full 12 months warranty from them as it's been fully prepped and serviced by them.

Can't wait till next weekend! Tbh, I'm not all that fussed about the handling. I'm just going to enjoy the rumble for a while until I start dreaming of corners again!

Olly, you're a crazy man, I thought you sold the Trophy because it didn't portray an image of professionalism to your clients?

The big question from me is;

When is my test drive? : )

Want V8, need V8, will have V8...

Seriously? Olly  If your going to get rid of a Trophy do it for the right reasons..... lol

I actually picked up a client based on him seeing the Trophy first, started the conversation off as he was a petrol head and had 'heard about those things'....
