I really want to know what the Trophy would be like with 4 pot brakes.... People rave about the improvements that are made by just the pads, disks, fluid and hoses being changed... imagine what a decent brake calliper can do.....

The only limiting factor would be tyre grip. The Brake would clamp harder than fatima whitbread!

i was originally going to throttle body a 172, and then decided I wanted to get a 182 and seriously mod that before I decided to go for a trophy.

On both other options I was going to be buying a 4-pot brake kit, until I realised that neither the yozzasport cup or the k-tec racing turbo clio run 4 pot brake kits, even though they both sell them I think. They are both just on the max brake brembo disks with pagids i think. So if company demo cars who sell 4-pot brake kits aren't using them themselves, surely the 4 pot kit cannot be that good??

clios are only light cars, so there is probably no need for a huge brake kit.

TBH in a car that weighs just over a ton, 4 Pots would be overkill. Even the cup racers use standard calipers with uprated discs and pads, granted the cars are even lighter, but compare to the abuse a road car gets to the abuse the cup racers get.

I think alot of people end up putting the 4 pots on for looks, I was looking into it a few months back and decided for the cost, I would be better off uprating the dics and pads while using the standard calipers.

Bear in mind that the the 182 uses the same size disc as the Laguna 3.0V6 (280mm x 44mm 24mm New Thickness and 22mm Worn Thickness) I belive that the pads on the Clio are near enough the same size (129mm x 56mm 18mm Thickness) (Laguna 3.0 V6 130mm x 55mm 17mm Thickness)

With that in mind it is safe to say that the Clios brake set up as standard is spot on, all that you really need to do is uprate the disc and pads to a more aggresive sports set up, and change the brake lines.

Totally agree with this, if the Cup racers make do with standard calipers, why would I need four-pots? You don't really need new discs or lines either, just new fluid and decent pads as the standard ones are a bit cheap and 'every-day' orientated, ie. work very well from cold and don't squeal. £80 for Ferodo's and they work fine from cold, don't squeal or ruin the alloys and won't fade on track.

Getting back to the original point though, think they would look pretty good with the same finish as the wheels.

TBH I really dont think you will ever find the same colour as the wheels in a High Temp Paint, the best match you will find will be Hammerite Grey Gunmetal, I had some lying around when I painted a mates engine bay and looking at it, it seems to be a much lighter shade.

Thats the main reason I have gone for the Black paint, at least that way theres no chance of a clash in colour, same reason as going for Red, the colour would clash with the red of the car.

I will post some pics up when I finnaly get round to sorting the brakes out, just got to wait for the weather to get better.
