is there any pattern that has developed with the warranty claims then ?

Apart from Reno not wanting to pay them? :)

Most of the new car warranties will be expiring in the next few months so it's not really an issue. The main issues really have centered on the front dampers and the "huge" expense of getting them replaced. This has always been blown massivly out of proportion and has now been proven to be a fallacy. All the other real nasties seem to have been sorted out without too much pain.

ok niggles aside (it's a French car after all  )

has there been a problem with the shocks, or only if you abuse them ?

just doing my homework on this one

Sorry should have made my post a little clearer, the front dampers cost about £1500 each, which is a price that would make anyone feel a bit sick should they need to replace them if they went wrong, and some have, or when they wear out. but they are a unit designed to be refurbished which can be done easily and cheaply.
Just punch "dampers" into the search function, there are plenty of threads about this.

Just to clarify Julz's point.. no there are no issue's per say with the shocks. But they are a race damper and so will need refurbishing. Some have needed this work doing a lot sooner than most and without knowing about the refurbish service have knocked on reno's door who have said the usual.... "that'll need replacing (not knowing they're a serviceable part) and have asked for £1500 per front damper.

Of the handful (literally 2 or three to my knowledge) that have had failed shocks, a couple had had them replaced under warranty after standing their corner.

Hope this makes it a bit clearer.

I'm actually working my way through all the forum posts at the moment :?

coming from a French car background myself, I want to be forearmed on all and any possible problems

the trophy faults and trophy secrets threads will be of use to you.

also the best advice i'd be able to give you is to get the number of a good local specialist to where you are: Mark Fish, Ren-Tech, RS Tuning/RS Murray, Yozzasport etc. Once the warranty runs out never go near a Reno service dept, although a finite few actually recommend the sporadic one or two, the majority of reno technicians are muppets.

HI Col

Just going back to where to look for a Trophy, I got mine from DS Cars in Litchfield www.dscars.co.uk, I'm not sure if they have got any in at the mo but i'm sure if you give the guy a call he will be able to advise you when he gets one in.

I would definately a Trophy as they are an awesome little machine. :D

ok, thanks for your replies and advice guys :D

is "prima racing" a well known specialist by any chance ?

http://www.primaracing.com/

I know they've been around for years, but I never hear much about them.

I'm just asking because they are based about 1.5 miles from where I live

never heard of them... sorry. So I guess the answer is no, they're not a well known specialist.. lol

and looking at what they've done to that Alpine I wouldn't consider them as an option either..... blasphemous...

you know how it is though... you get attached to your old cars and it's hard to let go
