Hi guys, I'm new to the forum :D

apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong section...

I'm on the lookout for a Trophy, and I am presently at the "scouring the classifieds" stage

any advice on the best places to look ?

I spotted this one on pistonheads, but after a quick search, I was surprised to see it was previously advertised on here for quite a bit less

Yep he traded it, best part of £2k markup
Here is a good place to start, if they are on here they are going to be enthausiasts and you get a bit of the history. Also as the warranties come up i think there will be a fair few more being sold.
You could also try steve at http://www.allvehicles.co.uk He generally has a few and they are well sorted.

Hi, by the way.

so putting aside the markup, do you think that's a fair price for that particular car ?

Very good mileage, but i would try and batter them down by at least £500 and try and get some extras thrown in.

yeah, I like the mileage on that one :D

would you say £10,000 was about top dollar for one of these now ?

if so, that's good news because £10,000 is my budget

£10k is too much, there are not too many around with that mileage but G40Steve is selling his on here for £9.5 with the same miles and higher milage ones are going for a lot lot less. A fairer price would be close to 9.

I'm from Nottingham Dave.

I currently drive a 2002 Xsara VTS, which I've had for over 4 years now...

so just the small problem of selling that first before I can make any definite plans

Ah right,

Well, I know Middlesbrough Renault have a Trophy in with 26k on the clock and has been very well looked after I can vouch for that

I wouldent worry about buying a car with silly miles, unless ofcourse you plan on being a wuss and garaging it and polishing it too much  My one is on 38k and has had alot of things replaced one it therefor should be fine for years to come. Ive allways seen spending a premium on low milage cars a false economy.... sometimes they can be the one that you have to replace everything on but there no longer in warranty anymore ..

Good luck with your find :)

Cue i hope you know my view on this, i think its almost criminal that they can be picked up for less than £7k and yes i think the lower mileage ones should go for £10k. I was just trying to give an opinion of where i thought the market was at this time, the simple fact is they seem to have dropped about £1k-£1.5k in about 6 months. Not good.

Having recently seen a 15 year old, not exactly mint Escort RS Cosworth for over £18k i'm convinced you'll see the price of trophy's increase in the next 10 or so years when mainstream petrol cars are starting to be phased out.

all very good points, thanks :)

well the big development today is, my girlfriend has given me the go ahead

I really think I'm going to have trouble shifting my current car though, so who knows how long this could drag on

is there any pattern that has developed with the warranty claims then ?
