My Nurburgring Trip, Germany - Sept 2008 + Photopraphs

My Second trip to Germany and the Ring this year, but my 1st with the Trophy, and again it was awesome!

Catching the Ferry over early on Friday, and returned on Sunday.

1200 miles covered, over 4 contrys in 3 days, through some stunning scenery.

The Hotel again was brill, lush food and drink. Met some mad people and new friends out there this time again. The weather was kind to us too, with it being dry most of the weekend. Not to mention all the crazy cars we spotted.....

No trouble throughout the trip, all went so smoothley.

Mananged to get 3 laps in all together. The clio went round sweet as, was so much fun! :lol:

There were 4 other clios there on the Saturday, Three UK registered 182's and a Clio f1 in Liquid Yellow.

The Autobahn on the way back was fun too!

Can't wait for the next trip!

PS ignore my cheesy mug shot in the last pic! It just had to be done though!

not sure with speed cameras but i've been stopped by belgium police before - also the US state police have never chased up the ticket i received while driving down to the quays a few years back...

Your car does indeed look very shiny. I can't wait to get back to the 'ring.

Speed camera's abroad shouldn't be a problem yet. Don't try it in a hire car though. I've had a couple of fines from Austria. Also been escorted to an ATM in Switzerland by an unmarked car. Their motorways are straight and empty but their speed limit is well Policed apparently.

No mate, the ride hight on mine is totally standard. Not touched the suspension at all.

Yes my engine is standard apart from a milltek zorst and hill power inlet pipe.

Didn't really time a lap to be honest, although at the end of one of the laps my mate in the car with me said, he thought it was around 10 mins as he looked at the clock inside the car as we went through the barriers and then again as we were on the fifnshing straight.

That not very accurate i know!

Next time i may think about timing a lap!

Looks like you had a great trip,

But only 3 laps?

Don't time yourself,immediately puts you under extra pressure and makes you push harder than you would normally.
Get a few more laps under your belt,concentrate on your lines and get a good idea of where the circuit goes.
Then get yourself timed discreetly by a passenger without you knowing.

Just have fun and don't drive at 10/10,the armco is expensive and so is fixing your car,
i know this directly

I was going to say thats a long way to go for only 3 laps too...but i guess its the atmosphere and general weekend overall that makes it.

Car does look very shiny indeed.

I'll be honest (and I was saying to my brother only yesterday) i have timed laps before but won't be doing it again. Being a member on a couple of 'Ring forums you hear plenty of horror stories and the fact is, if i crashed I would be properly in the crap! Im going to go out each lap now with a mind more for having fun and leaving a larger margin for error than before...especially in the Westfield.

(its easy to say it, but we'll see if i do take it easier than before when i get there again :lol: )

I have been twice this year and it mainly depends on how many laps you want to do and how many days you want to spend there. But the problem is, once you do 1 lap you want more :lol:

Typical scenario...out on a friday morning, back on monday night.

Ferry - £50 return
Hotel - 100 euros pp for 3 nights (roughtly)
Petrol - Once again depends on how many laps, but just to get there and back it would probably be only just over 2 tanks...from London its about 300 miles door to door i reckon!
Food and drink - fairly reasonable prices out there
Laps - can't remember exactly but its roughtly:

21 euros for 1 lap
70 euros for 4
135 for 8
225 for 16 etc etc

But the more laps you do, the more petrol costs too - 14 miles of hills and hard driving does use a fair bit, but its all worth it! I think I drove about 15/16 laps on my last trip, aswell as passengering about that too!
