It's come to that time...

If i'm quite honest, I don't know much about how to maintain a car myself...always having to get my mates and their tools to help me out. Which isn't really a problem, but I want to start getting more involved. (bikes not a problem..but cars..i'm lost)

I bought my Trophy around June time with 17k on the clock. Since then I'm upto 21k and I think it's in need of a service. MOT is also in October.

I've read all the threads on here about services and dampers....standard service won't really be an issue, but I don't really trust any of the garages around here to do a proper job, especially when it comes to checking whether or not the dampers are in good nick.

So couple of things really...

can anyone recommend any garages in West yorkshire...

or does anyone live remotely near bradford/leeds, thats all able to give me some advice/have a look etc...

and maybe some things in-particular that i should be changing etc...

Hi Matt

With the dampers one of the signs that they need a refurb is that the gas/fluid resovoir on the damper strut body will drop down onto it's mounting bracket when it loses the gas pressure.

Other sign would be that the dampers become softer and 'spongeier' but ten if you just owned the car this might be difficult to pick up on.

I believe Angelworks are in Leeds if I remember correctly they are supposed to be good. I would not use Renault at all mate, use a specialist who will be cheaper and give better service too.

I think you mean RS Murray the servicing side of RS Tuning, Angelworks are St Neots in cambridgeshire.

Just given that RS Murray a ring... they gave a quote of around £150 for standard service..excluding any parts like plugs etc...

that was just for oil change and filters..

Is that a touch high?

that thing with the gap on the dampers only shows gas loss, not oil loss... so they could be shot but with the gap still.
basically they all need a re-furb at this age.
i should post a video on you tube of mine before they get done...thankfully i dont need to use it.
maybe that would be a good idea if someone could talk me through the process...?

Rs murray's are great - i use them for major services like 36/72k, minor i do myself as it's easy to do. For anything in between or when i don't have time i use a motor engineers in Elland, just off jnct 24 of the m62.

I would definitely recommend rs murrays. Last service on my meg 225 they gave me a quote (can't remember how much), but when it came to paying up it was less. Never seen or heard of a garage doing that before! I'll be taking the trophy there when it needs to go in

Bingley eh? Never seen another trophy around, I'm at Thackley, just the other side of shipley. I'll keep my eye out.
