cleaning probs/dilemas

hi everyone,
just after some help/advice really with regards to cleaning.
after the t was purchased it was taken to a professional valeter as I could not clean the car because it had traindust(?) all over. When it came back the results were good.
it has since had quite an extensive clean and polish etc from me, again looked good.
its now a week later and i have gone to clean the car again as it has rained etc and needs a clean. what i thought were water marks from the rain appear to be in the paintwork.
I have tried everything to remove these marks, including a clay bar and autoglym paint renovator (in a small area), again with no joy.
the only real way that these water marks(?) dissappear is if you polish the car and they get lost in the polish.
if you catch the light correctly you can still see the marks.
the paintwork seems smooth to touch and the marks seem to be, if anything in the paint(?).

if anybody has any suggestions i would be gratefull coz at the mment i just want my old 182 back!

ps. and now pompey have bloody scored!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you live near any power stations ?

unfortunately not good on computer so cant post pictures, car is parked in road but not near a power station. i think the previous owner used it to and from a train station. it basically looks like dried water marks or tree sap, only thing is it appears to be in the paint as it just wont budge.

The reason I was saying about power stations was because acid rain could be a possibility, with it being rain drop sized marks.
water marks should polish out with a bit of elbow grease. Do you own a machine polisher? you may need a more aggressive compound than AG paint renovator to cut deeper into the paint if the marks are bedded into the paint.

T paint can be very hard, so as Ben says you may need a more aggressive compound etc.

If all fails, you may need to have the paint corrected by a detailer?

In my experience Trophy pain is very hard and if it's some acid rain etching you'll need a machine to get them out.

When it looked good what products did you use? Auto Glym super resin polish? Reason I ask is some product have fillers in them that will simply mask the actual fault and will wash away with time.

i used a zymolwash from halfords, then leather off. i tried to polish the marks out with zymol polish from halfords but as no joy then a clay bar. No joy there so the ag. all anythin seemed to do was just bury the marks in polish rather than remove them. in the daylight you can still see all the marks.
do you think i should try a t cut.
i had it pro cleaned when i bought it but the marks have come back. they machine polished it as they said using an acid bath was not working.

When they machine polished your car they might have just tickled the paintwork? A full paint correction normally takes many hours and that's without the prep and post-polish wax/sealant.

quite possibe then. when i got the t back it looked fine no marks what so ever. its only now that they have appeared again . do you think i should have a go with a t cut or does anyone know a good person in the surrey area(woking ish) to do the job. ive never experirnced this before so its totally alien to me buts thanks every1 for advice.

T cut may well get it out but you will need a detail to correct the damage it does. It would be interesting to know what the original guys did. Go and buy some meguiers scratch x and apply it with a microfibre cloth to a small area maybe the size of the palm of your hand and see if this gets the marks out. I'm not suggesting that you then do the whole car like this but it will give you an idea if a proper detail will sort the problem.

ill go an have a look for some scratch x tomorrow.
when i took it to the original detailers(?) they said an acid bath was gonna be best. when they started it was apparently no good so they went ahead and machine polished it. when i picked it up, about 7ish hours later it looked fine.
i even spent a large amount of time on it and no marks were apparent.
only today when i gone to wash it, what i thought were water marks from rain dont seem to be.
dont really know if they just polished over the marks thus givin the appearence of them gone or if this is somethin new.
ill try that stuff tomorrow.
my g/f just said get a re spray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this looks exactly the same as what i have. i seem to have had the same probs too and like the photos you can still see it even though it looks shiney.
ill try the scratch x if no other suggestions.

If someone mentioned acid and my car in the same sentence I think I'd be going in the other direction before they finished. They sound like valeters and not detailers maybe, try the scratch x and it will give you an idea where you are but if its like those pics probably need to get it off to a pro.

I have made a fewcalls to specialists in my area this morning and am being quoted about 300/350 for paint correction.
to be honest at the moment i am so disheartented by the whole experience that i may just get rid of the t.
the only thing stoppin me is cant afford to make a loss on the thing and the g/f knows how long i been after one. it is the last time i look at a car dirty and unpreped when purchasing!!!
of to halfords in a bit to try some scratch x.
the person i bought the car from also recommended a acid bath and said thats what croydon renault use all the tme as they are next to a railway.

I know how a problem like this can really put a downer on car ownership but don't get disheartened, yes you have a problem but it will/can be solved and it doesn't stop it being a fantastic car that you've clearly had your eye on for a while.

the scratch x has been tried an not too succesfull. it has worked a little (no need to go to the gym today now).
it has mainly made the marks a liffle duller although you can still see that there in the paintwork.
I have just finished on the phone to paul at miracle detail too, the bloke whodoes all the exotic cars. he is v. local to me an d after a chat has said it just sounds as though the t needs to have a machine polish again and a micron(?) or two striped from the paint work. He suggested that it would take about 7ish hours and would leave his buisness in no less than perfect condition.
He also wants to relieve me of the best art of 550 for this. (should charge him for the pleasure of a t for the day).
