I'm now on my second set of Brembo HC discs and Mintex M1177 competition pads.
The first set I had squeeled like crazy until I took them apart, cleaned them up and re-copper greased them.
The second set were bedded in by Mark Fish, he completed a couple of stops from about 50mph, he keeped checking the colour of the discs when they had a slight purple finish he left them to cool. I'm pleased to say that they are almost silent, I only get the occasional squeel at slow speeds and I can only just hear that if I have the window open.
Spoke to a guy last night who knows a fair amount about cars and he said It might be the calipers more than anything and I should put some copper grease around them (being very careful not to get any on disc/pad!). I'm going to speak to donkey about this, after all, you don't hear race cars rolling around with squeaking brakes so the pad aggressiveness is no excuse.
It really is quite unbearable and detracts form the driving experience.
i run brembo max brake disks with pagid rs4-2's and the package is awesome. First trackday done at donington over the easter weekend, done a full day on track on friday, and then a couple of sessions on the saturday and on the sunday. I was driving hard and the brakes didn't even think of letting me down once. No hint of fade whatsoever. Highly recommend what I have got. A mate with a 172 cup runs the same and his thoughts are the same too. They are totally fine from cold too.
a mates standard 182 had his brakes fading after a few laps.
