So its been a while since I’ve posted anything, and seeing as me and a mate of mine had enough energy to clean our cars yesterday I thought I’d do a little update with some pictures of the recent additions to #333. Although I won’t bore you with millions of pictures of my Trophy all clean, as lets face it, we’ve all seen a clean Trophy before!! Also sorry about crappy quality pics in advance.
So this was the scene outside yesterday, the Trophy, the MK2 Escort ( clearly being used as a shelf ) and my mates Corsa VXR.

By the time I’d finished everything yesterday ( including fitting OSRAM NightBreaker Plus bulbs to the dipped, main and fog lights) it was dark so I snapped a quick pic of it clean this morning, has some nice water beading going on, pics probably not detailed enough for that!

Also I won some dash trim ( including gear insert and steering insert ) on ebay, for the bargain price of £21, theyre from a 2001 RS Clio apparently, silver with a nice pattern on them, theyre all immaculate as well, they might as well of been new!!

I also got fedup with the Renault exhaust mounts, and how a brand new set only seemed to last about 3 – 4 months before they decided it was time to wear out and perish!! So some powerflex exh-008 exhaust rubbers, some old OE hangers ( courtesy of BigDaveTrophy ) a hacksaw and drill later I had a set, it took a couple of attempts to get it hanging right, but all in all cost me about £9.

Pretty pleased with how it sits!

And finally some KTR Solid Top Mounts, mine have been knocking for a while so I thought I’d venture down the STM route, the car feels amazing on them, they knock a tiny bit on bumpy roads and over speedbumps etc but after quite a few chats with various users on here and on CS about them apparently that’s pretty normal, most of the time theyre completely silent and the car feels so nice on them :D

Well that’s my winter update for #333, hopefully some of you managed to get to the end without getting too bored 

Always feels good to do a bit of updating, nothing better to bring a smile on your face when the season is wet and miserable!

A comment on the STM's; I have exactly the same on 304 - they are excellent - Initially I thought they were a bit rattly but when experimenting with the front pads I found that when I fitted some with the oem front tension springs in (they were on ebc yellows to be exact, but same as the stock pad front springs) the rattles dissapeared! Refitted some RC6's and the rattle came back (you are right though, it's a very tiny rattle) the noise being the pad free in the caliper. Try driving down a bumpy road, when you hear the rattle, slightly apply the brakes and see if the noise goes. With everything solid up front you are bound to hear every little thing transmitted into the cabin from the road through the brakes/supension, a small price to pay for the difference in steering feel though imo.

All well cleaning the outside for the winter.
But you realy need to clean the inside.
I have seen farm vehicles cleaning than that on the inside.

Took that photo before i did any of the cleaning, hence the dirty interior, its all hoovered out now

Yea they feel fine, just if you decide to do is this way make sure you cut the rubber bush down enough so it doesnt bow in the hanger otherwise it will just pop itself out, you want it just enough so its a tight fight, and get outdoor cable ties and replace them every so often, other than that its a cheap sensible alternative to reno or prima mounts, no extra vibration really but got uprated engine mounts so probably wouldnt notice even if there was :D
