Guy, Most T's have aftermarket filters, exhaust systems, braided lines & a few other bits as we all know. Now as standard im getting quotes of £600 which is fine, but declaring an air filter mod alone comes out at £900!!! Wtf!?

I cannot find a standard T. What to do?

Who is that with? I found that a lot of the specialists were mostly only interested/concerned with mods that "increase" (in their eyes) bhp. An airbox is easy to put back to standard. You can try Adrian flux, HIC, Graham Sykes, Footman James and others.

Wow, shocking amount.
my trophy is insured via Keith Micheals, with AST's, buckets, Wilwoods, pure motorsport top mounts, whiteline ARB, 2118's and 888's and it came out a smidgen over £350

Ouch, I thought I was being ripped-off with what I pay! Definitely shop around some of the specialist insurers as I'm sure you can undercut that massively!

Cheers peeps. I only webt on compare the market as i had a spare half hour. I will give the specialists a ring.

I am with Sky Insurance as per CS. Fully comp and with a clause allowing me to leave my car in France everyday.....£720 lol!

I was 25 with 6 years no claims at the time of policy take out

:up: They use Highway Insurance, who i've used for many years, they set a bhp limit on the policy and can do anything to the car within that limit.

Yeah they do I think the limit is like 200 bhp which your not going to get near in a trophy unless you spend serious dough. They are great a great company to deal with.

I didn't realise they set a 200bhp limit... hmmm. Bugger. :eek:

Yeah your fucked mate ;) don't quote me on the 200 bhp limit but I'm pretty sure that's what the guy told me it would be with my trophy before they started charging for mods. I could be completely wrong though.

I'm with Aviva, 9 years driving, 8 years NCB, Policy came out at £405, added the stainless exhaust, solid top mounts, harnesses, removal of rear seats, koni rear shocks and a remap and it went up to £422

I called Neil @ Greenlight and now im with Highway as thats who they use as a broker.

I have went from £1200 a year with admiral down to £450 a year.

With Highway you can declare all mods at no extra cost, Engine limit is 200BHP for mods and they can also add track cover via green light.

Guys - sorry to hijack thread... I'll try cut a long story short...

My policy renewed with Direct Line on 18th Feb on my Civic Type R to the tune of £444. I then bought Trophy #104, had to drive it home and so rung them up for a quote (declaring the exhaust and remap) - they wanted an extra £260 odd quid!! Well I had to pay it to get the Trophy home... but I'm being bent over here. Also considering the fact when I rung up they said they couldn't cover mods as I'd only had my licence 4 years... yet my renewal document in front of me clearly stated I have had my licence since Jan 2005 - 8 years! Bunch of clowns...

As far as I can tell, I can cancel my 'renewal' within 14 days and get a full refund... so by Monday 4th March and even though I changed my policy details, I'm still within this window as far as I'm concerned... I'm going to write to them to complain regardless - just because of the utter shambles of trying to get insurance cover on the Trophy and how my renewal document says one thing, but their database another when I spoke to them on the phone.

Who should I be speaking to for a quote in your eyes?

I'm 26, 7 years NCB, good postcode in Oxford area - mods include Orbi full exhaust, ITG panel filter and Group N remap. Annual mileage around 10k a year.

Also - a silly question but someone scuffed my CTR back in Jan 2012 - I didn't make a claim, hence NCB intact, settled outside of insurers albeit the guy was a taxi - I had the respray work done and he paid for that (not sure if he subsequently claimed for his damage on his insurance) - sounds silly but most insurers ask if you've had an accident in last 3 years... I guess technically the answer is yes? But then again, I'm not sure? Any guidance on this too?

It's in my old Civic and not an accident in the Trophy which I've only had two days! A taxi scraped the front wing and the respray paperwork is with the car and the new owner. I've always declared it to insurers but the reason I posted it was two insurers I've spoken to have asked if I've made any claims - and to that question the answer is no. Whereas some ask if you've had any accidents to which I would guess the answer is yes?

I'm checking that I'm being correct in declaring a respray / scrape outside of insurance as an accident. Elephant told me that wasnt an accident but I'm wary after direct line that most insurers are a bunch of clowns...
