Trophy price fluctuation

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about getting a trophy for the past two or three months now and I'm finally in a position where I can buy one, only thing is the price seems to have risen by about a grand on average for them. I was wondering if there prices fluctuate like this normally or if they are generally quite stable, I don't really want to get one only to see the price drop by a grand within the next quarter.

The prices seem to have gone down if anything from what I've seen.
How long are you planning to keep it? I don't think you'll lose much money on one as long as its a nice one in the first place and you maintain it well.

So which ones/prices you looking at? The only ones i have seen seem to be low low, though there have been a few poor examples being touted around for not a great deal.

Been looking at ones that cost just over 5 grand with about 55k miles on the clock and a FSH. I'd probably keep it a few years with a chance of never selling.

At the minute i'd say they were a bit low, maybe down to the fact its nearly Christmas? A car is only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay, I think you can get a nice example between 4-5 k

In the instance of the first I'm not sure about Koni dampers, is there any chance of them being as good as the Sach's? It is also due an aux belt in October, is this normally as expensive as the cam belt?

As for the second it's a generic dealer advert so not really much to say/see

The Koni rear shocks are a common upgrade matey just look around the forum. As for the aux belt the kits are around 70 quid now an if your handy with a spanner there not particularly hard to change, just a bit long winded

Because if if you advise this a lot..........

Well the aux belt is not exacrly difficult to change, I've changed quite a few. I am a mechanic granted but removing bumper, top piece of slam panel, headlight an engine mount to get to it ain't exactly rocket science? Not like there's any timing to fuck up on a aux belt like there is on a timing belt!

That's fair enough though that's why there various specialists out there offering there services an knowledge. I've had 3 Renault sport clios now so over the past 5 years an as I am a mechanic I carry out all my maintenance including cambelt changes after purchasing a the genuine Renault tooling. I was just staying that if he was mechanically able an confident the aux belt isn't the biggest job an not the most expensive

Great condition, Belts done, Dampers done, subtle mods, never tracked, FSH, 2 previous owners. My car has been cared for and IMO a lot better than many examples around the same price with lower miles.

After seeing your progress thread over on CS Jon if I was buying a trophy again I'd certainly consider it, certainly a credit to yourself!

Cheers, its a tough time a year to sell, but I've seen them going pretty low recently. I think the price is fair considering nothing needs doing, and wont for a long time.

Yeah with Christmas round the corner it is a tough time to sell I guess, I toyed with the idea of selling mine due to the fact I'm currently buying my first house but instead I decided to sacrifice a few other things.

Unfortunately I was looking for one with under 65k on the clock and a good service history, I plan to keep the car quite a while. The one with the rear Koni's has now been taken off the market so the search continues.

I would really consider Jon's Trophy if I were you. Mileage really doesn't matter on these cars infact I would rather have one with a good mileage on it tbh.
