Treat for #455 (ProSpeed exhaust content)

I hope my boss isn't a visitor to this site because today I was working from "home"... Home was in fact ProSpeed in Cardiff.

Turned up first thing this morning for a cat-back 2.5in system with 2.5in cat mod and slash-cut 3.5in exits. Charlie and the guys did a great job, I was on the road by 3pm and didn't stop smiling the whole way home!

The sound is "mid-sport", which is exactly what I was hoping it would be - motorway cruising sounded no different whatsoever to standard - I was worried it might have developed a drone but not intrusive at all - and under load it just sounds superb. For me it's everything the Trophy should have been out of the factory, but to each his own. The tunnel on the M4 got a couple of downshifts & a blast, hence the smiles. The only thing I need to resolve is the resonance from the parcel shelf at idle - any suggestions?

I'll post some pics up over the weekend but if anyone is in the market for an exhaust I'd urge you to have a chat to Charlie and check out the website before making any decisions. He's a great bloke running a sound outfit. For me it was a 200 mile round-trip but the quality is top-notch and the system looks immense, 100% worth it, assuming I don't get the sack!

Awesome! I've been looking at prospeed recently. I'd like to hear a mid-sport with a decat though.

Exact same system as well and i am chuffed to bits with it. I stopped the shelf from rattling by removing it...and the rear seats

Thats what I did too remove all rear to prevent the rattles, mind you makes the exhaust that bit noisier.

check the heatshield - might need a bit of adjustment or even a couple of extra screws putting in it to stop some of the vibration... that combined with a stealth shelf meant that mine didn't make any more noise!

Sound advice FunkyMunky - the heatshield will definitely need some adjusting as it's rattling like nobody's business! Funny you should have posted, your liquid yellow 182 was a big factor in my decision to go to ProSpeed. I love this pic

Charlie made no power claims, and I didn't ask. I have no idea how loud or heavy it is either, sorry Pete.

I had a pro-speed exhaust on my 1.2 before the Trophy. Awesome build quality and cannot fault Charlie at all. Mine was a little too loud though, so had another silencer put in at a local Top Gear.

<br><br>Pete you know full well it's all about the bling when it comes to exhausts&nbsp;<img src="images/smilies/wink.png" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" smilieid="682" class="inlineimg">&nbsp;I should know I forked out a huge amount on one that's likely to fall to bits at any time! As a single backbox it has to weigh in at considerably less than the OE and I'm sure it will be well within allowed noise levels as I suspect they are going to become increasingly under pressure come MOT time. Added BHP? We all know that a few extra is all that can be hoped for if any at all, but you knew all that.<br>

I guess I did Know most of that H but 4 me its not about bling, its about performance.
To get on my car (200 Cup) it has to earn its keep, I have decat std at the mo and TBH it sounds nice but the car will probably do more on track next year hence the interest, I want a light powerful Ex with not too much noise, this seems to tick boxes but was just after some further data beyond the BS... and increase the quality of the debate, you helped ..sort off.. ;-)

Always happy to help ;-) but yes understand where you're coming from. Don't know much about the 200 Ex or what a prospeed version would be but does not Charlie kinda make exhausts almost to a punters spec? I have to admit the 182 prospeed looks good, single back box so got to be lighter and also cuts down on all the scaffolding you often see on aftermarket two box systems.

Hi Claude sorry for the no response on you PM but looks like you managed to get the back seats out! Its not that hard as you can see! Yea its not for everyone. Main reason for stripping my one was for harnesses. Plus then you have a good excuse not to give lifts . I actually find its quite handy having a van!
Oh quick note if you do leave it like that make sure you do remove the rear belts or put everything back in come MOT time. If they are present they have to work..
