I wonder if it's unavoidable?? - I seem to always get it at full bore acceleration, 2nd and 3rd gear, after 5 or 6k; I've got new PE2's and the geometry is all standard (today) - admittedly the roads are a bit cold but dry....

I'm doing the top mounts and camber bolts this weekend after which I'll get the geo set up again (2 degs neg camber and 10 mins toe out I think) - can I expect worse??

As the car is predominantly for trackdays (I'll have R888's on track which are way stickier so maybe it will show up less there) I guess I'll just have to drive more sensibly on the road and avoid it. :?

cant say i ever really noticed any torque steer in my old trophy, 172 or R27.
worst torque steer i ever encountered was in my mates old G40 polo, that would have you in the other lane if you werent ready to catch it...
i'm someone will suggest things to look at though...

I get it in the T on uneven roads. My old 172 Cup used to be a nightmare most of the time!

I do notice the T is getting worst which makes me think maybe the front shockers are in need of a service...

I can't say I've really experienced any noticable torque steer, maybe your tracking whatever is a little out. The setup you describe will be very similar to mine and the difference in handling was pretty dramatic, under hard braking it was pulling to one side, it would jump all over the place on white lines etc and I'd struggle to get it out of tracks on worn roads.

It's not mental, just not 100% dead straight perfect under max power; I had just come back from a drive in my porker so maybe I was expecting too much (355bhp full throttle rock solid) ....

Not impossible to put with though!

I only get a slight hint of it, and not all the time..

Same Here.

I drive alot of uneven road surfaces and the car does tend to wander most of the time, on uneven road surfaces when the car wanders it is amplified when you hit 5K rpm and does tend to throw the car off line a bit. On a smooth road when you floor it tracks pretty straight all the way through the rev range.

Nothing unmanagable thought surely? Just a slight tug here n there?
It doesnt put me off line, a firm hand on the wheel sorts it easily. Nothing compared to a strong turbo car on boost!

You will find that un-even tyre wear patterns aggravate the effect.

Depending on the geometry (mainly scrub radius) camber can also be relevant - personally I did not have a problem on the Trophy, even at 2 degrees. Wide tyres on uneven roads will always produce torque steer/wandering - it is a technical explanation to do with varying self aligning torque for each wheel. A case where one picture would be better thna 1,00 words.

No its not a problem, as long as you keep a good grip on the wheel its easily corrected, it just comes unexpectedly and can be a pain on tight roads if there is coming the other way or you are pushing on and it nudges you towards the hedge.

I never really noticed torque steer, which is one of the joys of the Trophy's setup. Though coming from a history of FWD cars, you subconciously learn how to put the power down.

Noticing a bit more in the new car, mind you.

Update:

Torque steer has all but gone and she brakes in a straight line now !! - had the geo set up properly yesterday after fitting the solid top mounts and camber bolts, neg 2 camber 10 mins toe out - transformed the car, can't wait for the 24th! (my next trackday). :D

It(obviously) had the standard camber before but had almost a degree of toe in !; I wonder if it had been set up by the tyre place last time to a standard Clio figure they had on their computer (no idea if they are different to the 182 standard figures)????

Anyhow - all is well now =D>
