well i say at it again,even though this is my first experience of some rather questionable service standards.

I took my T to a local Renualt dealer for pure convenience on my part i must add, just to finish off the last parts of a service.

on returning to pick up the T and with paperwork and report handed to me, im informed "no sign of the cambelt being replaced". interesting i said.i think you will find i had the cambelt replaced.

"well we couldnt see any sign of a replacement" he replied.

lets have a look at the maintenance service book that i provided you with and you had for 2hours.

"there we go look" i said as i pointed out to Freds stamp at BTM Permormance, it was just one turn of the page under the heading "accessories belt and pulleys" section.

"ok" he said.

i also pointed out that under service plan i took out you were supposed to "check" the cambelt.

do you mean you cant tell the difference between a 5yr old belt and one that has covered 500 miles?

uhm no reply to that.

what i found more embarrassing was they had just been awarded or upgraded to sports specialist status!

school boy errors me thinks, though i must point out the previous times i have used them i had no problems with them at all and found them very helpful indeed.

the point of my post is that one of the reports on the fault test was a bi-mode air inlet solenoid valve and a upstream oxygen sensor circuit fault.

are these anything to worry about? im not so sure they are but im probably wrong.

i did take up the group buy re-map at RS tuning about 18mths ago so maybe thats the reason.

Renault staff are largely pathetic.

''bi-mode air inlet solenoid valve'' - sounds like the acoustic valve. Nothing to worry about. I assume you have removed it?

''oxygen sensor''- This tests the function of the cat to make sure its working. Not overly important, EG. mine doesnt have a cat!

Which Renault Dealership was this? I am interested as I work for BTM and we are know a lot of the garages in the Mid-lands.

I once went to get a new rear bulb for my T

Garage "what clio is it 'Son'"
Me shocked he called me SON " Its a 182 Trophy"
Bloke looks at the computer than looks up
Garage "Im sorry Renault never made a 182 Trophy"

Are you being serious? Im guessing this wasn't a renault dealership.

He could well have been right if it was an import from Mexico but very much doubt that.

Just wanted to add is it just me or did you mention upstream lambda sensor fault? only that's before the cat so will deal with engine running, these seem to be a common problem and its best to replace with a Bosch lambda there exactly the same as Renault ones and are about half the price.

Oooo, my lambda keeps playing up, well one of them I imagine...whereabouts might i find such a sensor...GSF??
