Knocking under Braking

I get a knocking noise now and again under braking, mainly when im driving slow.
Braking performance isnt affected, Im just unsure whats causing it !

Any ideas .....?

where's it coming from? could be numerous things really.... gearbox to engine mounts to something simple like a stone trapped in the calliper.

Check the bottom ball joints, i used to get knocking at slow speeds and both mine were shot to bits.
Like Cue said though there are a few things it could be.

They dont look too health to be honest.
You cant really see properly without dismantling them though. There a bit corroded from the outside.

Ill get my mechanic to have a look when I get my new exhaust fitted.

The knocking seems to be coming from that region, but only from the passenger side.

I might go all out and uprate the suspension bushes with the powerflex ones while work is being carried out in that department.

I'm beginning to think that lego technic bits are better than the reno ones. It's something i'd probably do, you can be our guinea pig

Ill order a set when i order my exhaust, ill get them fitted at the same time...

On the powerflex website it says 'CLIO II AND 172 USE 22MM, 182 USES 23MM.PLEASE MEASURE ANTI ROLL BAR DIAMETERS BEFORE ORDERING.

Where as, on K-tec, they dont give you an option to select the sizes !

Mine is knocking over bumps in the road on the near side front and also when braking. Have ball joint bearings and bushes ready to fit so hoping this will cure the noises.

Were any of your noises removed with new bushes / ball joints?

As far as i'm aware, new bushes and ball joints did stop the knocking, I just used standard Renault parts, not had a problem since. Jeez that was 3 and a half years ago, seems like yesterday!
