Hey Guys

My bootlid decided to slam itself on my head this morning !!!

I understand the boot gas struts (if thats what they are called) are slightly shorted than the normal 182's to accommodate the V6 spoiler. Thought i'd see if anyone has any idea how much they cost and where to buy them from before I resort to the stealers..

Cheers

As per the other thread, they don't work so well in the cold.
I had the first 2010 instance of the lid closing on my head this week when it was -1oC.

As said, don't jump to replace them as they will probably be OK, just give them a bit of cold weather and they're pants!

My boot struts are really really bad to the point that they almost dont even hold my boot open.

I called renault and gave them the part number as i got it from the FAQs on the reanult Uk forums.

V6 255 / 182 Trophy spoiler:
Tailgate Strut: 6020014070
Spoiler: 6020012727
High-level stop light: 7700844706

When i called reanult today the told me that they where £218.26+vat EACH

I can get these for £85 each plus delivery if people need them?

How can you get these at the price you have said and can you still get them ?

May still be worth waiting till the weather warms up a little. Mine are shite and always have been in winter, fail to keep the boot up for very long.

My boot has decided to shut on my head lately too. I would rather have it close on my head than pay Renault £218.26+vat each to be honest. It would be less painful.

Wedge it with a stick, or don't go shopping when it's cold!
Edit; maybe BG do a re-furb :)

It's a game

See if you can open it, throw your stuff in before it smacks you on the head ;)

Part of the french charm I guess

I find in the summer, the heat makes the boot seal stick to the boot making it a pain in the arse to open. In the winter, it insists on slamming down and smacking me in the head. Just can't win!

Mine has been doing this all winter, even worse when parked up a hill as gravity seems to take over!

There is no way I will EVER consider forking out over £200 each strut.

Is there any way these can be oiled or something to improve performance in the cold? Even new ones will probably give up the ghost after a few months.
