I've just joined the 20k mile club. and what better trip to bring the trophy in to the 20's than a trip to brands hatch! Although sadly i wasn't driving round the track.

Who else is a member of this elite trophy driving group? lol

Just coming up to 26k. It should really be on 32k, but I piled those miles onto a couple of other cars.

Good to see others up there to.
I've somehow piled 10k on my daily driver in the past few months!! I must really love driving!!
It'll be interesting to see how the engines fair in the 30s. Hopefully no one else will need a replacement!

Probably keeps getting better until things start wearing out, 50-60,000 miles is probably the peak for a 182 engine in performance terms under normal drivng.

7MAT told me something very interesting about running in his Trophy, turns the 1000km low revs procedure on it's head and he's got the RR results to prove it. All about sealing the cylinders while the engine is brand new (no deposits).

i've heard about this before - a contact who has a tuning company in the states said they recommend short bursts of high revs when the engine is brand new to 'temper' the seals etc.... I didn't know if this worked just for larger engines or not so i played safe.

ps, i've stalled on 15k - only done about 1k in the last 2 months!

I've seen how engines are run-in first hand at the BMW plat in Munich:

1) Put brand new engine in car
2) Start brand new engine for the first time
3) Drive car onto rolling road in a sealed 'room'
4) Nail car to around 150km p/h for a few minutes
5) Drive car off rollers
6) Turn car off

And yet there are those that harp on about running engines in... ;)

I just wish the manufacturers would let us know from the start. Rather than it being a grey area.
