As promised i have a few photos of before and after of the dampers once shot blasted and sprayed.

If anyone else is thinking of doing this then from my own experiences i would suggest you look into building up the lost material once the rust and corrosion has been removed, the guy who done mine was a friend of mine who works for JC Auto Refinishing in Cranleigh there website if anyone is interested is http://www.jc-refinishing.co.uk/.

My friend did say if he had had more time he would have built up the material to get a smooth finish however i only gave them 3 days to do the job mainly due to the fact that the other dampers that were on my vehicle have had it.

Before

This is what i mean by the pitting effect after shot blasting, when i plan on doing my second set of dampers this will be rectified.

I would like to give thanks to Chris205 i know he had issues with a previous Trophy and these were for sale a while back when he was breaking so i snapped them up and im now really happy with the results.

Nice work. They look really smart, are you using any type of lacquer to protect the coating?

They have a lacquer finish applied to them already, the hardest bit out of all of this was i tried to do this in a week, i drove to BG on the Monday 16th to get them stripped. I then back the same day to drop them off to my friend, who then shot blasted areas of corrosion and sanded the painted areas smooth, he did mention that they looked like they had been powder coated from factory so didn't want to strip what protection was already there, so he only shot blasted the corroded areas and sanded them down.

The damper casings and reservoirs were then painted and i had planned to take them back up to BG on the Friday 20th, this being a tight deadline and me impatient. So on the Thursday night the dampers were left at my friends work place with the lacquer drying, as you can guess i picked them up early on Friday morning then drove back up to BG for them to rebuild with working adjusters.

They were finally delivered back to me on Friday 27th and i have fitted them the same evening and done a full wheel alignment early Saturday morning.

They have been fitted along with mark fish springs which i have to say are a lot better than expected, the only issue im now having is i fitted new top mount bearings a few months back and the mark fish front springs are slightly shorter than standard so im finding that the top cup that the spring sits in moves rather than the bearing its not a lot of movement as under the weight of the vehicle its fine but as soon as you jack the front end up and a wheel moves say if steering lock is off it comes out of alignment, i may now try and find a set of solid top mounts that work well and need no drilling as im not a fan of the holes, i do quite like the idea of the ast's but i don't think i would ever use them much due to me having camber bolts fitted and there fine for me.
