Nice to meet you Luke 335 at Silverstone last night..
Glad you were treating George Ks old Khumos with respect they deserve ;-)
How was your vibration? Find the problem?
You were going fairly slowly when I eased past you going into Vale.. sorry about that!

This was 200Cs first and trial trackday before our trip to Ring/Spa/Zandvoort next month, must say it was pretty impressive on track, brakes great compared with CT but the steering still lacks a little, must be the best track car (like CT was) strraight from the box for anything like sensible money.

The new fast Abbey corner was great, could get awesome run thro there and on to Farm curve, there was not much else that could live with the Clios on that bit wet or dry... Happy days, I will write more on the 200 v CT soon, prob post trip.

Hi Pete.
It was good to meet you too. The 200's certainly looked like fun on track. I could see the back end moving around quite a lot at Abbey. Let us know how you get on in Belgium. Sounds like a great trip.

It was always going to be a frustrating evening for me. My nearside damper went last week (83K) and I didn't have a decent set of tyres for when the circuit dried out. By that time the tyres were too hot and the vibration had got so bad that it really wasn't worth pushing the car. I stayed out for a few laps for a closer look at everybody else.

Driving home the car felt and sounded awful! I was away all weekend though so I haven't had a look at it yet. I'm praying its not the gearbox!

Also good to see Steve again and met a cliosport / Renaultsport member called Liam who was very helpful. He used to look after the Renault heritage cars and told me they had their dampers refurbed in Northampton pretty cheaply :). I think this place was mentioned on here before.

How embarrassing! When I first had the vibration i came in and gave everything a good feel. Wheels and nuts felt tight with the weight of the car on them. If only I'd got the wheel wrench out I would have realised that the nearside front was working loose!! I'm embarrassed to admit this but at least it didn't come off and the car is fine.

Thanks. I was very lucky - what an idiot!

Looking at the damper refurb thread I think the guy that rebuilt the heritage cars dampers was Paul Drake in Newbury. He couldn't remember details at the time but confirmed it was a Koni specialist.

I've spoken with Paul Drake, he can perform routine servicing on the Sachs dampers. However, if the damper needs major components (new rod for example) he can't get hold of the parts as BG Motorsport won't sell him them.

He will service each unit for £80-90. He can turn them around in around 3 days, you just need to book them in as with BG.

Does this help?

Yes thats usefull thanks. Makes it a bit difficult though if they wont supply parts as who knows whats going on inside the damper? It sounds as though BG have replaced a few rods etc.

Hi Luke - I agree, it is a bit of a gamble. It's a shame, as his prices are 1/2 those of BG. I suspect most dampers have just needed minor servicing (new washers + a re-fill).

Hiya Luke, defo good fun in the wet.
Did the longest drift/slide at Stowe, even the instructor was impressed
As it dried out loved the section after the new pit complex

You were lucky with your wheel nuts that could of ended badly

Doing Mallory on the 14 Aug if you fancy it.

Going to give Jules a few laps if he finds me
