Service & Mot

Trophy is due a service and its 2nd mot before the end of the month ive done 22,500 miles ,just replaced the the brakes last month front and rear so im hoping it wont need anything , well maybe a rear wiper :roll:

anyway i phoned renault and was quoted £138 for a 32point service and mot , i thought this was pretty cheap ? does this include changing fluids ? or is it just a simple oil and filter and top up if required of fluids? i thought with 25k miles the car might be due a bigger service ?

i was shocked when i asked if they would put my new splitter on for me when it was in getting its service and they wanted £40 cheeky fecker its a 2 min job when the cars on the ramp [-X

3 and 5 years are the biggies. i'm doing the class C a year early as i'm about to hit 36k.

I would avoid Renault at all costs if you can and find a local specialist.

always the same with the dam dealers , got a call at 11.30 today that the car had failed the mot , because the gaitors on the cv joints had slipped both sides , they werent burst or ripped it was just as if the metal band had slipped no grease was leaking, they tried to charge me £80 to fix them 30 mins each side they said , i went and took the car back paid the bill £138 got the book stamped for service and after a heated debate told them to ram it that i would never use this garage again !!

most local garages would have just have fixed that for free if the gaitor wasnt damaged , i took the car to the local kwikfit where i know the manager from taking the works vans there alot and getting tyres changed on my 5 , anyway he got his new employee an ex renault time served guy to fix it took him 5 mins no need to take the drive shafts out checked the grease and put new clips on ,he also fitted my new splitter and changed my scuffed wheel for the new 1 , he wouldnt even take any money for it so i gave the guy that did the job £30 all in all worth every penny

i tried to get it back to the dealers tonight to get the mot but was to late , so back in the morning again .

it seems that is the ploy with the dealers though ,get you in with cheap quotes then hammer you with labour charges for the stupid things i mean they even tried to charge a tenner for the 2 clips should have masks on at the desk , its the more gulable motorists i feel sorry for , who will get the call and say ok np just fix it what ever it needs !!!
