I'm not so sure Dave, things like the tyres and steering wheel are a bonus if they are good but I wouldn't say they reduce the value of the car if they are not. The value in the car as I see it is body condition and interior condition (these can cost a fortune if not right) and obviously service history. Then the mileage and owners add a premium to the value. It is a fact that many potential buyers are looking for a low mileage car so supply and demand rules pricing there.
If someone Is wanting a low mileage low owner car they will I suggest live with things like tyres and other bits as they are easily sorted and any potential seller would be daft to start reducing price just because of that, I certainly wouldn't.

I'd agree with Ashtons99 here Big Dave. The front splitter is £120, a steering wheel probably similar money and tyres a £400 consumable that are usually an owner brand preference. If I was in the market, and it had old Goodyears on it I wouldn't mind, as it would allow me to put four new Michelin's on it. I would ask where the splitter went though. If it was torn off there could be additional bumper damage and that's a bigger issue as it involves paint, and most would want original paint all round for a premium price.

Granted the timing belt is a £600-700 cost and a big bit of leverage to knock an owner down. Same for the Sachs. Still, with Rik on the scene, you know if he did them you'd be pretty bullet proof for future and way cheaper than BG (better service too).

With this is mind I'd be asking five figures for it. Someone that wants one like this will pay, they'll have to. There aren't any about like it. If someone is dropping five figures on this, another grand is peanuts to have brand new tyres, a steering wheel and peace of mind Rik did the dampers. The alternative is trying to knock the owner down on a few points, them not budge, the buyer walk away, and wait another three to five years for another to maybe come up; which may not have 40k miles by that time, more like 50k, and prices may have continued to climb. Ian M is totally in control of this one. Good luck to him.

Like I said in my post , PLEASE don't think im being picky.
Yes I fully understand the limited supply of these car, after all I have a 40K miler myself which is DEFO not for sale, but if it was, ide be wanting strong money...
Not sure where you get the £120 for a front splitter, thats an old price, there almost double that now...
I was just looking at it from a buyers point of view, that if bought as is, it would poss need @ £1000 spending on it.
But that's from just looking at the limited pics etc...
I REALLY REALLY hope the seller does get strong ££££ for it, £9K poss even £10K, as itl reinforce my agreed value on my car, which im having a bit of a battle with my insurance company about... Therein lies a who other topic...

Also get the belts done by a known renaultaport specialist. Like Mick at Diamond.. those in the know we know this means more than just a random garage having had a go.

Plus the good Indy garages are actually very reasonable price wise.
