Not sure about the sound system as it's not something i'm interested in in a car, which considering where i work is fairly blasphemous. As to the lowering don't do it unless you're considering spending a fair wedge. I think Mark Fish does some that don't compromise the handling but like i said lots of money.

So you're keeping it now? You do realise that doing this will shoot your insurance through the roof!

Have you tried altering the EQ settings? I think the standard stereo is alright tbh.

yeah saying that they're"not worth listening to music on" is a bit harsh, they are pretty good for standard speakers.

do the job for me!

I guess it depends upon how much of an audiophile you are... One of the original owners fitted really nice Focal (I think) speakers into his Trophy and those who were lucky enough to sit in it said that it was a fantastic sound. Personally, I'm happy with the standard setup as I don't spend enough time in the car to notice TBH..!!

As regards lowering - what are your motives? The Trophy setup has been well honed so be very careful when you begin to consider playing with the suspension setup.. If it's for looks, I would personally feel that it goes against the point of the car.. - just my opinion..

oliie was the audio specialist on here - not sure he logs on now... my mate who's a studio engineer tweaked the setting on mine and it sounds a lot better for it - i think a lot depends on the type of music though. something very bassy probably overpowers the standard speakers but it's fine for guitar r piano based stuff.

i listen to alot of rock and rap and it sounds terrible

i have adjusted the settings but still cant get a decent sound. i had cheapish speakers in my corsa and the sound level was 10 times better than these.

the lowering aspect is due to looks really was just wondering if i could do it without comprimising the handling of the car

Any 13cm speakers fit in.

If you are fitting coaxials(not recommended) you need to disconnect the standard tweeters.

If you are fitting components you need to mount the crossovers in the dash somewhere and fitting the new tweeters may require some sort of bracketry depending upon what you go for.

To fit a dvd head unit you can just run it through standard ISO wiring. You may need to do something about the handbrake feed, pretty sure it goes to earth ;)

I'm upgrading to polyglasses soon, and i've now sealed the doors with sound deadening and made some MDF baffles for the speakers mounted directly to the metal door panel, with the speaker mountings on the doorcards removed.

I wouldn't upgrade the rears really, keep it faded forwards quite a bit.

If you've got £250 to spend you'll get some very nice speakers.

Bear in mind that you will definitely NEED to fit baffles and sound deadening, as well as a proper seperate amplifier to get anywhere near the potential from some £200+ speakers. And don't expect miracles, you're not going to get full on sub bass without a sub, but you get a very nice sound from a properly set up pair of front speakers.

These look suitable for what you are after and DLS make some very good speakers, as you can see they require 100wRMS so a chunky amp.

I believe that's exactly what oliie did. From memory he had a full focal set up including components in the front and a sub in the boot - he removed the isofix bar to negate the weight gain.. I was at the ace cafe meet 2 yrs ago but sadly didn't sit in the car to hear it. Gazza did and he said that the sound quality was stunning.
