Ok,

I think this is a different one. Mine sounds fine until you go over the magic 3K rpm mark. Then as the engine revs go down towards 3k (decelerate) the exhausts rattles and moans alot. It stops at the 3K point on the way down too. The extra vibrations from this can be felt though the gear stick, presumably due to the close proximity. Am I right in thinking this is the flexi-section? Is this on the manifold? Or is it the cat? Or something else?

sounds as though somethings either loose or worn - probably one of the mounts or maybe even the cat is loose.

What, it's cracked?
I wouldn't have thought so, Renault worked quite hard on it to get a lot of the "extra" 10bhp over the 172.

no it sounds like the flexy section has rusted through. could be the dogbone. Maybe best to get mf to check it or get the jack out.
