Wiper Mechanism Failed

Hi all,

My wiper arm gave up last week and snapped leaving me with the drivers wiper stuck in the middle of the windscreen at 40mph in very bad rain. It almost resulted in me stuffing it into the back of a Police car who ironically enough had broken down by the side of the road. Luckily I was able to pull over in a car park just down the road.

Anyway, I am not sure whether this is common to failure after so many miles (80,000 on the clock) but I thought I would let everyone know as this was a very scary situation to be in! Anyone else had this happen to them before?

Can't say ive heard of many people having this issue! Only similar problem i had was on a mk1 clio where the wiper motor seized up but after a couple of bangs with a hammer it came back to life and hasnt had a problem since!

Happened to 'Azrael' as well. I know as i flogged him a new wiper blade & motor.

my wipers stopped once in the rain, I turned off the engine and on again, it reset and they worked, and have since (3 years later).
