The Michelin PS3's (87w rating) are what I have and they are very good.
Yokohama AD08R's get good reviews too and are available in 205/45/16. I imagine the PS3 edges it as an 'all round' tyre though, with the AD08R's being better on dry roads or for track use.
I've got the goodyears. Lightens the steering massively and reduces the feel. Had them on for quite a while now and they are still crap. Can't wait to get rid of them.
I bought them 1 1/2 years an 10.000 Miles ago. They need high
air pressure to work. 2,5-2,7 bar at the front and
2.3-2.5 at the rear.
Once they are warmed up and it is dry Outside they are great on country
roads and you do not get any understeer.
BUT: They are very heavy in comparison to the Michelins,
they cannot keep up with Michelins in wet or greasy conditions
and if the pressure is to low (e.g. pressure recommended oem by Renault)
the whole car wobbles around, you have no clear turn in and you are not able to find any
Breaking Point that makes you feel confident.
I would chose Ps3's for an everyday and sometimes trackday car before the yoko ad08r.
if you look at the Evo tire test:
the yoko Stands out in the dry BUt in the stopping test in the wet they are loosing 5-8 metres
as well as they are loosing in the wet in General.
and I hate going slow because of rain
I agree about the PS3s w rating. I've tried both v and w rated. The w feels heavier which makes sense but a lot more confidence inspiring in the fast bends than the v's. They seem closer in feel to the original exaltos.
Not sure what the weight difference is between the two but imagine it wouldn't make much difference to performance?
