Does anyone know what spring rates the Trophy uses as standard?

Do you mean Lb's per square inch, they're pretty soft actually. i emailed George k with the dimentions of my spare ones and i think he's worked it out.

Ok here is the info you need to work it out.

From the bottom they coil around slightly under six and a half times so the two ends are almost opposite. The diameter at the bottom of the spring, as it tapers in slightly after turn five, is 142.4mm and the diameter of the rods used is 12.3mm.

I'll see if i can find the equation, but like i said George should have the info at his fingertips :)

I have just re-run my calculations, and depending on how many of the six and a half colis are active - the normal convention is four and a half, the rate comes out at 160 lbs/in (30 M/mm). Hope that this helps.

Ah not be using the mean diameter of the coil, also lowered the active coils and have got it to 156.25.

Julz - I actually got 157 - think that is close enough to you! Where did you get your formula - mine came from a senior F1 engineer - hence the tip about active coils.

^^^^^^^^^ My friend google :)

I also read on there about the active coils, ie the number of coils actually being compressed and also the mean diameter, taking the measurement from the centre of the rods and not the outside edge. I actually do think i got there more by luck than judgement though.
Not that i really know, but also from what i read and also a previous comment by you, that they seem quite soft even for a relatively light car which presumably means the dampers are doing a lot of the work....

Please comment.

In a word - exactly. If any of you have time look on the ExeTC website - they do Citroen WRC and also kits for Subaru and Evo. They emphasise that good dampers mean they can run much softer springs - I spoke to them recently and their rates for the Evo road/track it are half that of most of the Japanese after market stuff!! Sadly they do not do anything for the DC5.

perhaps this is why the dampers need rebuilding that bit earlier.... i thought the trophy dampers were special item custom made for the trophy - i suspect they're just rebranded from being sportlines but this may prove that theory wrong..

Does this mean that you suspected that they were rebranded and now think they are the real macoy or the other way round :?

Out of interest.. Where do we go to get new Springs should they need replacing?

Do we have to contact Eibach and give dimensions/rates etc for custom ones, Or can we get them from Reno.

I have got the part number 8200 342 860 £126.47 from Renault. Apparently "blue + yellow" spec?

Bloody expensive for one spring!!! You can get Eibach Pro Kit for £134.78 for 4 springs? :?

Your parts guy got it wrong then as that part number is for FF182 with cup packs! That is a still a black spring but the yellow and blue bit is the colour of the paint which is painted on there ( little squares ) to determine which one it is! As the non cup pack 182 is mid blue and mid green!

So if you do get them from Renault use the part i have provided of 8200514730! But like you said there dam expensive you even get your dampers refurbed for a pair of them.
