Hello. Just some quick observations on selling #430 via CC. First, I think if you’re selling a stand out example then CC provides unparalleled exposure to the collector enthusiasts, and so it’s worth using. I felt bad about not using Pistonheads auctions as Ben L there was a Trophy owner but that platform for me is yet to become established. I found that it took a couple of attempts for the CC copywriters to nail the advert text. It’s essential to provide them with exhaustive history details in order to get the best wording and to reduce the number of mid auction questions from bidders but it was frustrating to have to encourage CC to identify and pull out the real differentiating points within the ad text, beyond the generic Trophy facts. I wonder whether they’ve expanded beyond a petrol head copywriter base. And the thing I’d heard about CC seeking to persuade the seller to reduce their reserve mid auction played out. Despite agreeing a reserve at the outset, and despite the follower and viewing stats running ahead of normal levels throughout the auction, there were 2 attempts on the final day, including in the final minutes of the auction, to persuade me to reduce the reserve. I understand why this tactic makes sense to CC given its charging structure but for me there’s a respect for the initial agreement aspect here. A positive for CC is that their bidders and buyers are known to them via previous site activity, which is a good filter. So I’ll give them 4 out of 5 and would use them again now knowing what I do.

Very interesting to read about the sellers experience.

Overall, it seems CC have a fairly decent service and way of working, but of course
its not all 100% perfect, I guess as with most things in life.

As you say, as they have expanded so quickly and into so many countries now,
being able to get people on board who are, for want of a better phrase, into cars
and are more familiar with all of the intricacies of all of the different models and brands
is probably a hard thing to keep up, I would guess.

Out of interest, how do they contact you to reduce the reserve etc as the auction is entering
the final stages, email or phone calling?

Looking through the CC Trophy specific sales results listed above, you must be very happy
to have the second best price so far. The quality of your car really came through, hopefully
its next owner will be happy and look after it just as well.

Thanks for the great insight into CC from the sellers perspective Stephen, I think you're right that it's probably still the best place to get the car in front of a 'collector' focussed demographic and thus the prices reflect that, not just for Trophy's but for other marques and models, which is great as a seller. I hope you're not missing #430 too much. :)

I am missing #430 but TBH I’m enjoying being able to get off the drive without tricky manoeuvres now that there’s a bit more space. Re earlier question the CC contact to suggest a lower reserve was a telephone call on the morning of the auction end, and an IM 5 minutes before auction end. If anyone is interested I still have the VRN T22PHY. It’s on for £1350 or so with a plate dealer but I’d do £1000 for someone on this forum. CC fee structure doesn’t work for plates that aren’t multiple £Ks.

Strictly this isn't a Trophy (obviously) but I just thought it was a very nice example of a 182 Cup.

You can tell a bit of money has been spent looking after it and its had some careful previous owners by the looks of it at least.

Funnily enough, myself and @NickReilly063 were chatting about this car the other week. Certainly looks like great example, with much £'s spent without a doubt, will the non-standard elements hurt the price with the originality, purist, collector lot though? We shall see, really a Cup in that order (original or slightly tweaked) should be up in the £7's..

I certainly wouldn't say no to something like that.

Love the seats and how they are finished as well, suits the ethos of that model I think.

It’s looks a nice example and has definitely had plenty £s spent on it like Ed/Francis have said above.

I do like the toned down original look myself however I know that’s a personal view.

Up to £6200 so definitely attracting lots of attention -let’s see what the final bell brings tomorrow.

Being slightly biased I think this car due to its condition and arguably in the best 182 colour will do very well tomorrow.
