hi number 093 here.

i replaced my standard cd player for a JVC one from halfords. with a couple of leads to link up the stalk controls to the radio.
Halfords man took my dash apart but found that the plugs from the stalk control bit (just behind the clock) were not compatable with the stereo. has anyone else come across this? have you had your cars stereo changed but was able to keep stalk controls?

Hope someone can help

Why do they need to get to the clock/display area? I would have thought that if you were connecting an interface box to use the existing steering wheel controls, this would connect in to the connector at the back or the stereo? Or are you trying to use the display to output information? If so I think this is possible with some high end units that Alpine and Pioneer do if you purchase an extra interface box.

halfords man took the whole dash out and behind the clock disply bit was apparently a plug that a lead plugs into that goes to the stero to make the controls work. all i want is the stalk controls, not fused about display but im not sure how it all goes together i may have to a audio specialist or renault me thinks

Search through old posts fella, i believe there's a box you can buy that sits inbetween the renault wiring and your stereo to allow them to work...or is it the display...i can't remember but have a look through old stuff coz ur not the first
