oem wheels are stupidly expensive for what they are - plus it'll melt every 3-4 years.

If they didn't have the bloody cruise control inbuilt i'd have switched to a momo one ages ago..... re stitching the oem one may not be a bad idea, it's just a bit on the large side though... :( :?

Mine has started to do this recently. I've saw one or two people get them re-stitched that look like new so probably the cheapest option.

Any decent retrimmer should have no problem redoing it in real leather(go for perforated) or suede.

I'm going for dark grey perforated leather with suede thumb grips, only quarm is getting the leather right to match the airbag colour.

Black alcantara is my covering of choice.

Will be looking into this prob over the winter as my wheel is starting to go :(

On long journeys I try to come up with ingenious ways of remounting or relocating the cruise buttons so to be able to install a nice small race wheel. I have a feeling the switches may be of a CAN bus nature so it may not be a simple case of buying push buttons to mount on the wheel in the style of a radio/drinks/limiter button on race cars (and might look poncy anyway.) The other would be to simply mount the stock buttons around the area of the cruise on off and ESP switches. And, er, that's as far as I've thought.. :)

Mine has melted and is getting worse everyday in this heat :( Do you have to take it off to get it done or can you take the car somewhere and come back with it all done for you??

Has anyone on here had there's retrimmed yet ? It's the option I'm definately thinking of now mine has begun to melt next to the right thumb grip. I'm thinking alcantara and perforated leather, and hopefully get rid of those nasty rubber thumb grips if possible.

I've seen pics of them covered elsewhere and they looked awful. If I'm getting the wheel re-trimmed they've got to go, I don't want them cracking after having a retrim. If possible I'd want somewhere to mould some new grips and cover with the leather. If not just pull them off and re-trim the wheel without. I was thinking the sides of the wheel will wear the most so perforated leather for there, and then alcantara to match the seats at the top and bottom of the wheel. I'll get the yellow pages out before too long and start ringing around, I want to view work before making my decision as I really don't want to end up with a loose fitting trim.
