Should my downpipe have a dent in it!?

While rumagine about underneath the car this evening i noticed a curious dent in the downpipe just above the anti roll bar...the bar appears to be able to fit perfectly into this dent.....seems too much of a coincidence to me!!!!! Has some twat of a mechanic in the car's history lifted the roll bar into the exhaust?

Isnt this a common problem on the 182's? hard acceleration and worn engine mounts cause excessive movement which cause the manifold to hit the subframe?

I'm not sure whether they come with it or not.
But I've seen a great deal with it there, and a couple that don't have a dent at all.

Having been underneath the 182s a fair few times I would say that the manifold would touch the subframe in a different place when it moves due to worn dog bone mount.

Mine has the same dent shape. It doesn't feel like a dent, it's possibly made like that allow for movement in the arb.

I'm with Ben here, the force required to put a dint like that there would probably do other damaged to joins etc.

ah just looked like it had a slight crease on one side of the 'dent'. Glad i'm not the only one, never noticed it before!

Surely this is ludicrous for decent exhaust performance!? What's the point in ensuring a 2.5" diameter pipe from the cat back if there's a restriction in the downpipe!
