The car's just been to Birchdown for its cambelt service (excellent guys, highly recommended)

While it was there I asked them to look at a dash light I have which is the SERV light and the wet road icon (I assume to do with ESC and ABS). After reading up on here I suggested it could be the brake pedal release switch, apparently common.

They confirmed it is a common fault, switched the switch around and reset the system. Sure enough, the light wasn't on when I drove off but about an hour into my journey home the light came on again.

Unfortunately all the Renault dealers / specialists near me (Sheffield) have bad reputations and I can't imagine they'd know what to do with a fault like this. Birchdown is 2+ hours from me so don't fancy going back there.

Anyone else had this?

I had this problem; mine was due to tyres with differing wear rates and hence different rolling circumferences which confused the computer... (the previous owner had replaced one rear and not the other half worn rear!)

Round town it was fine (lots of turning) but on dual carriage way/ motorways (straight running) the lights would come on: always reset when I turned the engine off though.

New tyres - no problem since :)

I'm quite sure the tyres have been replaced in pairs (the rears are still originals!)

I checked the pressures only recently but I'll check them again and see if that could be to blame.
