mine had an ITG Maxogen on it when i bought it all ive added is a full cat back system, but apart from that all you really need is a good set of brakes depends how far you want to go with it though

Depends on what you want to spend. ITG Maxogen is the best, not sure on the others i've seen - some tend to be 'open' rather than 'closed' meaning they suck air in from the engine bay which isn't good as hot air expands meaning less air going in to the engine, not more.

If you're on a budget i'd recommend an ITG Panel filter, straight replacement for the OEM one, then if you want a bit more responsiveness, fabricate a Cold Air Feed to supply the air box with plenty of air.

Remember though that your ECU will be working on settings for X amount of air, when in fact the engine will be running much richer, So as stated before a remap will be needed to get the best it.

am seriously considering a ITG Maxogen. Would I notice much gains even though i wont be having a remap at the moment?

Also where is the best place and price to pick up the ITG?

You probably wouldn't notice a huge change, i think you really need to think about it inconjunction with other mods to get the full benefit.
I'll be trying to do a before/after rr.

as per hoolio and a bit more noise, you really need a remap and better exhaust imo to fully appreciate better airflow into the engine.

Loads of places sell the Maxogen, prices range though from £400+ to around the £350 mark. So best to shop around... A ITG filter though is a fair bit cheaper at sub £40.

   We've been waiting almost two months for ours

It depends where you are, the general consensus at the moment is that a live map will get the best out of an engine that is proving tricky to obtain significant gains.

where are you based? in north of brum i'd say use RS tunning, south of brum Ren-tech, Angleworks - the list is a bit more extensive.

With just a maxogen i'd look at a custom map, if you have any other engine mods go for a 'live' map, specifically tailored to your engine.

As Cue said, for just the Max an off the shelf remap at Angelworks just south of Cambridge would help the engine Breathe at lot better.
Very simply a 'live' remap will tune your engine to give you optimum performance for the mods you have whilst 'talking' to the engine. And that is a massive simplification.

RS tuning are based in leeds that's the best place that i know of in the north - some would classify leeds as NE but it's central UK to me! Not sure on London companies, there will a be a few but I only go on recommendation and Ren-tech are the only one's near(ish) you that i remember of hand.

an off the shelf ECU replaces your ECU, assuming certain conditions in a custom map - cheaper but more than adequate for just an IK, a live map as per hoolio's explanations, they stick it on a RR and tune the ECU specifically to match your needs, wants etc - more power and/or more torque and/or better MPG etc.
