Gear box problems

Hello, trophy 388 having gear box trouble.Not good !!!
Second gear will not engage at all. Has anyone had this problem before ?? Any ideas on what the problem might be??
Any input would be a big help thanks.

Mine had the same problem a few years ago. Luckily for me it was within the three year warranty period because Renault had to replace the whole gearbox. They said my syncros were gone or something iirc. It was very low milage too. Around 17000m.

Ok, thanks for that. It doesn't look good for me then. You don't know by any chance the cost of that job??

Agency transmissions (in Gloucester iirc) will refurb the box for between £250-£500 depending on the work required.

And swopping the box, well depends if you know anyone handy with a spanner.

Fred @ BTM Performance is probably your closest specialist.

Sorry there are no prices for the gearbox or the labour on the reciept as it was all done under warranty.

Sounds like syncro's - get it sorted ASAP otherwise you'll need a new box also.

I can get all other gears part from second. It has improved, it now goes into the gate but crunches when doing so. Third is being used instead lol. I have booked it into the garage that I have warranty with the car, I hope it is included and they can sort it out ??!! If not then I will be looking to get it fixed elsewhere.

hey hey hey,

i get the trophy back today. its been a week almost and i miss it terribly.

the garage i bought the car from gave me the option to buy a warranty and the syncro's have been done through this, lucky me!!!

i have had a new clutch put on whilst the G box was off thought it would be a good time to do it. i was thinking of putting a Helix Group N clutch on but was a bit expensive. i went for a Veleo clutch.

has anyone had a Helix clutch ???

I sometimes hear a bit of a clunk when i put it into 1st gear

But just bought a uprated top mount and gear box mount from K-tec just hope this cures it

Oh right sound, how much did you pay for those ?? Are they hard to fit ??

My gearbox feels like new really smooth. Happy Days !!!

Just over £200 and getting Birchdown to fit them on Monday
